If you’re planning to book Alaska Airlines’ cheapest Saver fares, there’s an important deadline approaching.

Starting June 11, 2026, many Saver fare tickets will no longer earn Atmos Rewards points, making it more important than ever to understand the timing and rules before you book a flight.

Here’s what you need to know.

Alaska Saver Fares Will Stop Earning Points on Many New Bookings

Alaska Airlines has updated its Atmos Rewards earning rules for Saver fares, the carrier’s version of basic economy. Currently, Saver fares booked in the X fare class earn 30% of miles flown as both redeemable points and status points. That benefit isn’t disappearing immediately, but there is an important deadline.

Travelers who book a Saver fare by June 11, 2026, will still earn points at the current rate. Thereafter, newly booked Saver fares for travel starting August 1, 2026, won’t earn Atmos Rewards points, making Alaska’s cheapest tickets a lot less rewarding for frequent flyers.

The change applies to both Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines flights credited to Atmos Rewards.

For now, only Saver fares will be affected. Travelers who purchase standard economy tickets will continue to earn between 100% and 150% points relative to the miles flown, depending on fare class, while premium cabin tickets can earn even more. That’s an important distinction for frequent flyers.

While Saver fares may still offer the lowest upfront price, they are becoming less attractive for travelers who value earning rewards points and elite status. In some cases, paying a little more for a standard economy ticket could make sense, especially if you’re working toward a future award redemption or elite status qualification.

Hot Tip:

If you’re planning to fly Alaska or Hawaiian later in 2026 and were already considering a Saver fare, booking before June 11, 2026, will allow you to earn Atmos Rewards, even for travel after July 31, 2026. Be sure to review fare rules carefully before purchasing.

Final Thoughts

If you were already eyeing an Alaska Saver fare for travel later in 2026, you should book before June 11, 2026, if you want to earn points.

Saver fares may still be the cheapest option, but after that deadline, newly booked Saver tickets for travel starting August 1, 2026, won’t earn Atmos Rewards points. For travelers working toward an award trip or elite status, it’s worth comparing Saver and standard economy before booking to see which is a better option for you.
