Grocery giant Albertsons Companies has shared the details of a new perk available to all of its loyalty members: free Uber One subscriptions for a limited time. That’s definitely not something we see every day.

“We are proud to lead the industry by making Uber One perks available to all loyalty members, not just paid subscribers, because value should be accessible to everyone. This is just another meaningful step in our mission to earn Customers for Life by providing value, ease, and convenience wherever possible,” said Terry Singla, GVP merchandising for Albertsons Companies, in a press release.

Here’s a look at how you can score several months of an Uber One subscription for free through Albertsons loyalty programs.

Free Uber One Trial Period From Albertsons

Albertsons — the parent company of numerous grocery chains, including Safeway, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s, Vons, and more — is offering Uber One perks for free to all of its loyalty members through a partnership with Uber.

Members belonging to the free “for U” program can receive a complimentary 3-month extended trial of Uber One, while members of the paid “FreshPass” program can enjoy a complimentary 6-month trial.

This is the latest upgrade to Albertsons loyalty programs, which have gained a number of perks that extend beyond the grocery realm. For example, members can earn cash-back on travel purchases via the for U Travel portal, which is powered by Expedia.

Why We’re Fans of Uber One

Uber One is a paid subscription service that provides extra perks on the platform, whether you’re taking rides or ordering meals. It costs $9.99 per month or $96 per year.

Perks of the program include $0 delivery fees on eligible Uber Eats and grocery orders, 6% back in Uber One credits on Uber rides, 10% back in credits on car rentals, and 10% off delivery and pickup Uber Eats orders. The savings stack up the more you use the platform.
