The Dominican Republic is an immensely popular Caribbean destination, known for numerous all-inclusive resorts, especially in the area of Punta Cana.

Back in 2022, Marriott announced the beginning of construction on a brand-new W hotel in the popular resort destination. The property is now celebrating its grand opening and welcoming guests.

Let’s take a look at all the details.

W All-Inclusive Punta Cana Uvero Alto Now Open With 300+ Rooms

Marriott has partnered with Grupo Puntacana and MAC Hotels to create the adult-only W All-Inclusive Punta Cana Uvero Alto resort. The resort features nearly 350 rooms and suites.

Some rooms offer balconies and plunge pools, while the resort also includes an 11-room spa, 3 pools, and 11 dining and beverage options.

This new Punta Cana property joins 4 other W properties in the Caribbean and Central America and becomes the first all-inclusive W resort in the world.

Guests can now book stays at the property starting today.

Punta Cana is the perfect destination for both the W Hotels brand and an all-inclusive luxury resort,” said Laurent de Kousemaeker, Marriott’s chief development officer for the Caribbean and Latin America, said in a statement.

There is no shortage of luxury hotels in the Dominican Republic, and this new W joins 9 other high-end Marriott properties in the Punta Cana region. That includes the St. Regis Cap Cana, which is also now accepting reservations and hosting guests.

How To Book

You can book stays at the W All-Inclusive Punta Cana Uvero Alto using cash or Marriott Bonvoy points. Rates at this adults-only property start at $594 for September — the first month after the hotel opened.

If you’re redeeming Marriott points, you’ll need 167,000 for a night at the W All-Inclusive Punta Cana, which is a big chunk of points.

That’s not a great redemption value, unfortunately. We value Marriott points at 0.7 cents apiece, but you’ll get just 0.35 cents per point on these award redemptions. You’ll be better off booking your stay with a travel credit card that earns bonus points on hotel stays.

Final Thoughts

This is exciting news for Marriott Bonvoy loyalists who want another option to earn and spend their points in the Caribbean. It is even more significant because the adults-only W Punta Cana becomes the first all-inclusive W hotel in a market where Marriott is sure to excel.
