Update:

The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

American Airlines has launched a flash sale to the South Pacific for AAdvantage members.

Right now, you can book award flights for as few as 30,000 AAdvantage miles one-way, or $796 round-trip if you prefer to pay cash.

Dates and availability are limited, so you will need to move quickly if you’re interested.

Let’s take a look at the details.

American Airlines Flash Sale

American Airlines is out with another flash sale, this time for (mostly) last-minute travel to the South Pacific, including Australia and New Zealand.

AAdvantage members can take advantage of this flash sale by paying with cash or miles. Both represent good deals, as this region of the world can be notoriously expensive to reach.

The terms and conditions of this flash sale vary depending on how you want to pay for your flights.

Flash Sale Cash Deals Terms

American Airlines is advertising this flash sale with flights starting at $899 round-trip in economy, but we’re seeing flights for even less than that.

To score these deals, you need to:

  • Book by March 2, 2025.
  • Travel from the U.S. to Sydney (SYD) between now and July 13, from July 24 through December 5, and from December 23 through December 25, 2025.
  • No advance purchase is required.
  • Promotional pricing is valid only on flights operated by American Airlines and American Eagle.
  • Prices are per person for round-trip travel and include all government taxes and carrier-imposed fees for travel.
  • Offer is not combinable with any other offer or promotion.

No promo code is needed. You can search for your flight via Google Flights or directly on the American Airlines flash sale page.

If you want to make the most of this great sale, use an American Airlines co-branded credit card that offers generous rewards for your American Airlines purchases.

Flash Sale Miles Deals Terms

Whether you’re flying from Boston (BOS), Los Angeles (LAX), or anywhere in between, you can score one-way economy flights to Australia and New Zealand for as few as 30,000 miles and $31.10 in taxes and fees.

Although a bit more limited with return dates, there is availability at the same prices back to the U.S. Searching with a tool such as seats.aero will make finding these flights easier.

Here are some booking terms to be aware of:

  • The offer is valid for reservations made in the United States for flights originating in the contiguous 48 United States to Australia or New Zealand.
  • The offer is valid for reservations made through April 17, 2025.
  • Travel from now through April 17, 2025 (although we are seeing similar prices through January 2026).

If you have existing award travel booked with American Airlines, it’s worth checking to see if you can book the same flights with these promotional rates. If the availability exists, you can cancel existing tickets, have your miles refunded, and rebook at the discounted rates.

Final Thoughts

American Airlines is offering a nice flash sale on both cash and award flights to the South Pacific.

While we always prefer to fly lie-flat, especially on such a long flight, it may be worth flying 15 hours in economy to score these deals. If you’re interested, book quickly!
