For a limited time, you can earn an additional 5,000 bonus American Airlines AAdvantage miles on an Avis or Budget car rental booked through the airline’s shopping portal. These bonus miles apply to select bookings through October 31, 2023.
Here are the details of this promotion.
American Airlines allows members to earn AAdvantage miles and Loyalty Points by booking a rental car through aa.com/car. Depending on your American Airlines elite status level and whether or not you have an American Airlines co-branded card, you can earn 1 to 5 redeemable miles and Loyalty Points per dollar spent.
In addition to those base miles, right now there’s a limited-time offer to earn extra bonus miles by renting from Avis or Budget through American Airlines.
When you book an Avis or Budget rental car now through October 31, 2023, you can earn up to 5,000 bonus miles.
Avis rentals must use the AWD (Avis Worldwide Discount) code K817127 to qualify. Budget rentals must use BCD (Budget Customer Discount) number U072437 to qualify.
These discount codes also come with savings of up to 35% off of base rates.
Hot Tip:The 2,500 or 5,000 miles earned through this promotion are bonus miles, so they won’t also earn Loyalty Points. However, the 1 to 5 miles per dollar normally earned through aa.com/car are base miles, so they do earn Loyalty Points.

If I don’t get a place to put a discount code, should I assume that specific airport isn’t participating? Or is there a way to see the participating airports?
