American Airlines Adds Capacity for Super Bowl Weekend

Between February 5 and February 10, 2026, American Airlines will increase its capacity to and from San Jose (SJC) by a whopping 450% when it adds more than 10,000 seats throughout the weekend to accommodate the expected surge in passengers heading to the area to watch Super Bowl LX, which will be played on February 8, 2026, in Santa Clara, California.

San Jose is the perfect airport for Super Bowl fans, as it’s about 10 minutes away by car from Levi’s Stadium.

AA typically serves San Jose from its Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) and Phoenix (PHX) hubs. Those routes will see larger aircraft on regularly scheduled flights, but the airline will also add special flights from other hubs across the country, including Charlotte (CLT), Chicago (ORD), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), New York (JFK), and Philadelphia (PHL).

As a bonus, American will operate its Airbus A321T on flights from JFK. These aircraft are equipped with Flagship First and Flagship Business class cabins, and passengers with those tickets can access the airline’s Chelsea and Greenwich lounges, respectively.

Here’s a look at the details of AA’s additional service to San Jose:
