American Airlines has announced the construction of a new Admirals Club lounge at its Chicago O’Hare hub, which will offer passengers more space and all the amenities we’ve come to expect.

“We’re helping customers at ORD connect to the world with more than 500 flights daily, and we want to offer a premium experience from start to finish,” said Heather Garboden, American’s chief customer officer. “The new Admirals Club lounge will offer more seating and upgraded amenities and fully reflect the standards our customers expect when visiting one of our lounges.”

Here’s a look at the details.

A New Admirals Club Is Coming to ORD

American Airlines has begun construction on an all-new Admirals Club lounge in Concourse L at Chicago O’Hare (ORD).

The new lounge will measure 10,000 square feet and feature floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the tarmac and runway. It will align with the airline’s most recent standards for its Admirals Club lounges, including the “neighborhood” concept, which features distinct areas of the lounge dedicated to activities such as working, relaxing, eating, and more.

Construction has begun on the new Admirals Club, which will “eventually” replace the existing Concourse L lounge, though the airline didn’t provide an estimated completion date for the new space. The new Concourse L lounge will join Chicago Admirals Clubs in each of the concourses it operates from at O’Hare, in addition to a Flagship Lounge located between concourses H and K.

The announcement of a brand-new Admirals Club signals American’s commitment to its Chicago hub, and it’s another move in the ongoing battle between AA and United Airlines for turf in the Windy City. American will operate more than 500 daily flights from the airport this summer, including to popular destinations like Maui, Hawaii (OGG).

United, on the other hand, will operate a whopping 750 flights this summer, and neither airline has signaled that it plans to slow down on Chicago expansions any time soon.

Final Thoughts

American Airlines is building a brand-new Admirals Club lounge at Chicago O’Hare. It will be larger than the Concourse L lounge it’s replacing and will meet the airline’s latest lounge standards. We don’t know yet when it will open, but as soon as we learn an opening date, we’ll be sure to update this story with the latest information.
