American Airlines is out with another international route expansion, serving Asia, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

From Tulum to Tokyo, here’s what’s on the table with American Airlines in the new year.

American Airlines Files New Service to Tokyo-Haneda

American Airlines is the only U.S. carrier to apply to begin service from New York (JFK) to Tokyo (HND), and the carrier is going through approvals to operate the route. Assuming it gets approved, it will follow this schedule:

  • Depart New York JFK at 10:00 a.m., arrive into Tokyo Haneda the next day at 1:05 p.m.
  • Depart Tokyo Haneda at 3:05 p.m., arrive into New York JFK at 3:10 p.m. the same day.

The flight will be operated by a Boeing 777-200, featuring business class, premium economy, and economy class.

Tokyo-Haneda is significantly closer to Tokyo city and is the preferred airport for almost all travelers, though flights still operate to the farther away Tokyo-Narita.

Hot Tip:

American is the largest U.S. carrier offering service to the Caribbean, as the airline offers the most service to the most destinations throughout the islands.

Final Thoughts

The new service from New York to Tokyo will be a great addition to the network, offering connectivity to dozens of cities. In Tulum, customers can finally arrive in the Riviera Maya without making an additional drive from Cancun.

Look out for these flights to go on sale soon!
