Those with the Platinum Card® from American Express can continue to enjoy their monthly digital entertainment credits. That’s not going away — and the value of the credit isn’t changing, either.

However, on August 1, American Express is making a slight tweak to this credit that will upset users who’ve used Peacock bundles as a way to get Apple TV at no cost.

Is that you? Here’s what you should know about the change.

Changes to Amex Platinum Card Entertainment Credit

As of August 1, 2026, the Amex Platinum card will update its terms related to the card’s digital entertainment credit. For those unaware, the card provides up to $25 per month in credits with eligible services, worth up to $300 annually. This benefit requires enrollment and only covers these services: Disney+, ESPN+, Hulu, and the Disney+ Bundle, YouTube TV and YouTube Premium, the New York Times, and Peacock TV.

It’s that last one that will see a change on August 1.

My recent Amex Platinum card statement shows these terms, which I found after being tipped off by a Reddit thread:

Changes to the Digital Entertainment Credit Benefit
Effective August 1, 2026, Peacock bundled services subscriptions, add-on services subscriptions or services subscriptions purchased through a third-party will be ineligible for the Digital Entertainment Credit benefit. You will still be able to earn up to $25 in statement credits monthly by purchasing standalone Peacock subscriptions directly from Peacock, or eligible subscriptions with other Digital Entertainment Credit partners in the U.S. with an enrolled Platinum Card, for a total of up to $300 per calendar year in statement credits across all Cards on the Account. Additional terms apply; visit
global.americanexpress.com/card-benefits/detail/digital-entertainment/platinum.

The summary of this small (though meaningful) change is that add-on services to Peacock will no longer trigger the monthly statement credits from American Express.

If you aren’t aware, it’s possible to sign up for Peacock TV and bundle Apple TV into your subscription. Since Apple TV isn’t an eligible option for the Amex Platinum card’s digital entertainment credit, this has been a roundabout way to get Apple TV at no cost, thanks to the monthly statement credits triggered by a Peacock bundle.

On August 1, though, the bundles will no longer be covered. Instead, only non-bundled plans will be eligible, such as Peacock’s Premium, Select, and Premium Plus options — or the option to use your monthly credits with other providers on Amex’s approved list.

Final Thoughts

The American Express credits get harder and harder to use with every update. This time, Amex is changing the terms on the Amex Platinum card’s digital entertainment credit. As of August 1, bundling services with Peacock won’t be covered, so say goodbye to free Apple TV if that’s how you were using your credits.
