Update:The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

Amex Membership Rewards is highly regarded for its exceptional flexibility, making it a top choice among travel rewards programs. It has more than a dozen airline transfer partners. And now, one of its partners, Singapore Airlines, is offering a 20% transfer bonus through December 31, 2023.

Here are all of the details of this new Amex transfer bonus and a look at whether you should take advantage.

Transfer Bonus From Amex to Singapore Airlines

Usually, American Express Membership Rewards transfer to Singapore Airlines’ frequent flyer program, KrisFlyer, at a 1:1 ratio. However, if you are targeted for this transfer bonus, you’ll receive a 20% bonus when you transfer at least 1,000 points from now until December 31, 2023.

That means for every 1,000 Membership Rewards points you transfer, you’ll get 1,200 KrisFlyer miles. This transfer bonus is automatic, so you don’t need to enroll in anything. You can transfer up to a maximum of 999,000 points, and transfers are usually instant, although be aware that it can take up to 48 hours for the transfer to be completed.

Keep in mind that this is a targeted offer, so you may not see it offered in your American Express account.

Is It Worth It?

Amex Membership Rewards points are among the easiest to obtain through cards such as The Platinum Card® from American Express and the American Express® Gold Card. And they’re the most valuable flexible points offered, valued at 2.2 cents each in our valuations.

While we value Singapore Krisflyer miles at 1.35 cents each, transferring Amex points over to Singapore Airlines can make sense if you need to top off your account balance for a specific redemption with Star Alliance partners or other airlines.

Hot Tip:

There are many ways to top off your Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer account. The program has numerous flexible point transfer partners, such as Capital One MilesChase Ultimate Rewards, and Citi ThankYou Rewards (all at a rate of 1:1), in addition to American Express Membership Rewards. You can also transfer from Marriott Bonvoy to Singapore Airlines at a rate of 3:1 with a 5,000-mile bonus for every 60,000 points transferred.

Final Thoughts

American Express has launched a new 20% transfer bonus for Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer program.

If you’re interested in booking Star Alliance awards, consider saving your Amex points for more valuable transfer partners such as Air Canada or Virgin Atlantic. Currently, Virgin Atlantic is offering a 30% bonus from Amex

You should check your account to see whether you are targeted even though the bonus is highly targeted. Regardless, if you qualify for this offer, make sure to transfer your points to Singapore Airlines by December 31, 2023.
