Austrian Airlines announced that it will be introducing a new onboard dining concept across all classes of service, known as “Tastefully Austrian.” Beginning later this month, the airline will offer an expanded menu with exciting new touches.

Here’s everything you need to know about Austrian Airlines’ upcoming new inflight menu.

A Taste of Austria in the Air

Guests flying on long-haul Austrian Airlines flights are in for a treat. The new menu was designed to incorporate elements of authentic Austrian cuisine as well as give passengers more ways to customize their meal choices.

This move comes shortly after the airline brought back inflight chefs, known as the “Flying Chef” program, earlier this year.

The goal of the airline’s new dining concept, according to Austrian Airlines CCO Michael Trestl, is “to highlight Austrian hospitality and cuisine and to offer guests an individual experience.”

Not surprisingly, Austrian Airlines business class flyers will see the best of the new menu from the moment they sit down. A bar snack will now be presented along with the welcome drink. As far as menu choices go, there will be 2 international meal options and 1 “Austrian signature dish.”

The main event comes at the end of the meal, however. A “Viennese coffee house” service allows guests to watch a variety of coffees being prepared right at their seats, to be enjoyed in concert with dessert. A separate cheese trolley with digestifs will also be offered.

New Meals in Premium and Economy

Those traveling in both premium economy and economy class will also get to enjoy new menu offerings.

The airline says there will be a range of new meal options served in 3 or 4 courses. Two options will be available for the main course, and passengers on long-haul flights will also be served a light breakfast.

Bottom Line:

Beginning later this month, Austrian Airlines’ new “Tastefully Austrian” menu will offer passengers uniquely Austrian dishes throughout all cabin classes, including a Viennese coffee service in business class.

Final Thoughts

The new “Tastefully Austrian” menu from Austrian Airlines debuts later this month and should be a welcome improvement for passengers, especially those flying in the business class cabin. Along with the return of Flying Chef earlier this year, it’s evident that the airline is definitely stepping up its culinary game.
