Avelo has taken a gamble on Las Vegas.

The rapidly expanding low-cost airline officially opened its newest base at Las Vegas-Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) on September 7, 2023.

“Vegas has something for everyone and Avelo’s affordability, convenience, and reliability will make getting to this popular destination easier than ever,” said Andrew Levy, Chairman and CEO at Avelo Airlines.

Here are the details on Avelo’s latest big development.

Avelo Establishes a Base in Las Vegas

Las Vegas officially became Avelo’s sixth base when the low-cost carrier based an aircraft at the Nevada airport on September 7, 2023.

“As they say, What Happens in Vegas, Can Only Happen in Vegas, and that makes Las Vegas a winning bet for our sixth base,” said Levy.

As no new base would be complete without some shiny new routes, Avelo will serve Sin City with nonstop flights to a total of 5 destinations including Bend, Oregon (RDM), Brownsville, Texas (BRO), Dubuque, Iowa (DBQ), Eureka, California (ACV), and Salem, Oregon (SLE).

The 5 new routes will join Avelo’s existing service between Las Vegas and Sonoma/Santa Rosa (STS) in California. Avelo will be the only airline offering nonstop service on each of its 6 routes from Las Vegas.

In addition to the new routes, Avelo will ramp up the frequency from 2 to 4 days per week on its Las Vegas to Sonoma service. From September 8, 2023, the route will operate on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Hot Tip:

Given the low-cost carrier’s relative infancy, it could be that you’ve never even heard of the airline before! If that’s the case, you can learn everything you need to know about flying Avelo by checking out our full guide.

Avelo’s Other Bases

Las Vegas joins the following airports as bases for Avelo:

  • Burbank, California (BUR)
  • New Haven, Connecticut (HVN)
  • Orlando, Florida (MCO)
  • Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina (RDU)
  • Wilmington, Delaware (ILG)

Final Thoughts

In establishing a base in Las Vegas, Avelo is signaling the importance of the popular vacation destination to its route network. Not only that, but it continues to connect regional, underserved destinations by being the only airline operating each of its Las Vegas routes.
