Iberia is Spain’s national airline, offering nonstop flights to Spain from various airports around the U.S. This fall, the airline is offering major discounts of up to 60% off when booking flights using Iberia Avios, the airline’s Iberia Club currency.

Some one-way tickets between the U.S. and Madrid are as low as just 6,400 Avios per way, meaning a Thanksgiving or fall trip to Spain could definitely fit into your budget.

Don’t wait. Here’s what you need to know to book this deal.

Iberia Avios Flash Sale — The Details

Earlier this week, Iberia launched a fare sale where you can book flights between the U.S. and Spain starting at $219. But the airline’s Avios sale may be even better, offering some dirt-cheap deals using points that can get you between Europe and the U.S. for practically nothing.

Here’s a closer look:

  • Class: Basic economy, economy, and premium economy
  • Routes: From various U.S. cities to Madrid, flying nonstop
  • Cost: From 6,400 Avios per person
  • Travel dates: Between October 1, 2025, and December 5, 2025, including Thanksgiving dates
  • Booking deadline: September 11, 2025
Basic + comfort

These are basic economy tickets (meaning no checked bag or seat selection is included), and you’ll find the following prices to/from Madrid, per person:

  • 6,400 Avios: New York City (JFK), Chicago (ORD), Washington Dulles (IAD), and Boston (BOS)
  • 8,000 Avios: Miami (MIA), Los Angeles (LAX), and Dallas (DFW)
  • 12,500 Avios: Orlando (MCO)

Regular economy tickets start at 10,000, and premium economy tickets start at 11,800 Avios each way (the latter has limited options).

Note that you’ll need to be logged in to your Club Iberia Plus account when searching. Otherwise, you won’t see these discounted award rates.

There are also discounts of up to 60% Avios redemptions when flying from Madrid to Latin American and Caribbean hubs like Mexico City, Santo Domingo, Bogotá, or Montevideo. You’ll also see up to 60% off Avios rates between Madrid and Doha, Florence, Brussels, Oslo, Dubrovnik, and certain Spanish cities like Valencia and Granada.

For example, flights from Mexico City (MEX) to Madrid start at 8,000 Avios, from Florence for 5,000 Avios, and from Lisbon for just 1,800 Avios each way in basic economy.

I couldn’t find any business class award availability between the U.S and Madrid, though this could always change. However, I did find some for other destinations, like Lisbon (LIS).

How To Book

Although Iberia’s website isn’t the most intuitive, booking these award flights is relatively simple. First, you must have a Club Iberia Plus account and be logged in. Add your cities to the booking page, then check the box that says ‘Pay With Avios.’

You can toggle through different dates or look at the monthly view calendar to find dates and prices that work for you.

Transfer Chase and Amex Points to Iberia

Luckily, earning Iberia Avios is pretty easy, thanks to its U.S. credit card (issued by Chase) and points transfer options. You can transfer to Iberia from Amex Membership Rewards, Bilt Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Wells Fargo Rewards, and Marriott Bonvoy.

You also can transfer Avios to Iberia from other Avios-using programs like British Airways, Finnair, Aer Lingus, and Qatar Airways — instantly and at no cost. That’s useful if you have Avios in those other programs already.

Hot Tip:

The Avios flash sale is available throughout all of the Thanksgiving peak dates in most of the cities listed. Snap up a deal around these November dates to celebrate Thanksgiving abroad — perhaps the most affordable Thanksgiving flight deal you’ll come across this year.

Final Thoughts

Iberia’s Avios deal is one of the best points deals I’ve seen in a very long time, especially if you don’t mind flying economy or basic economy. Thanksgiving is usually an expensive and stressful time to travel, but not if you plan to snap up one of these deals to Madrid. And, since Iberia has recently upped its award rates, this is an amazing way to pay a much lower price.

If you’re saying yes to all of this, book soon. This promotion ends September 11, 2025, but awards will likely be snapped up quickly at these rates.
