Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress has long been one of the best World of Hyatt redemptions near Disney, thanks to its resort-style amenities, prime Orlando location, and affordable award pricing.

But as part of Hyatt’s upcoming award chart changes taking effect May 20, this longtime favorite will move from Category 4 to Category 5 — meaning higher award prices and the inability to book this property with a valuable Category 1-4 free night certificate.

Thankfully, you still have a bit of time to lock in award nights starting at just 12,000 points per night before the changes kick in.

Book Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress With Points

Starting May 20, Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress will move from a Category 4 to a Category 5 property as part of Hyatt’s upcoming award chart changes, which include 112 Hyatt hotels increasing in price.

Currently, award nights at the property range from 12,000 to 18,000 points per night. But once the changes take effect, pricing will start at 15,000 points per night and will go as high as 35,000 points during peak travel periods.

The move to Category 5 also means this popular Orlando resort will no longer be eligible for using a valuable World of Hyatt perk: Category 1-4 free night awards. That’s something many Hyatt loyalists, myself included, have long used here for Disney-area stays.

Fortunately, there’s still some time to lock in current award pricing and use a Category 1-4 free night certificate at this family-friendly resort, which sits less than a 10-minute drive from Walt Disney World.

The easiest way to spot open dates at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress is using MaxMyPoint, which allows you to scan Hyatt’s award calendar quickly and see standard-room availability without clicking through each day individually on Hyatt’s site.

Once you find dates that work for your Orlando or Disney-area trip, you can book directly through Hyatt.com. Award availability is currently wide open, especially for summer travel, with most of August pricing at just 12,000 points per night.

After May 20, award nights will start at a higher 15,000 points per night, and World of Hyatt Category 1-4 free night certificates will no longer be eligible for use at the property.
