Have you ever applied for a credit card and then forgotten the specifics of the welcome offer? Tracking down this information can sometimes be complicated.

Wouldn’t it be nice if the credit card issuer just told you what the offer is and how much you need to spend to earn it? Good news: Bank of America is doing just that for all of its cardholders going forward.

Bank of America Welcome Bonus Note

On a recent Alaska Airlines flight, my wife was impressed with the attractive welcome offer available for the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card. Applying with a code during the flight offered an elevated welcome bonus, so she grabbed an application.

She applied and was approved immediately, and we waited for the card to arrive in the mail. Imagine our astonishment when we found this note accompanying the card when we opened the mail.

Bank of America had included a welcome note reminding my wife of her welcome offer details and the spending requirement to unlock it.

Unfortunately, the note didn’t include the date the account was opened or the deadline for meeting the spending requirement. However, that information is pretty easy to find by contacting customer service or just looking up the date Bank of America pulled her credit report to review the application and approve it.

Thus, if we had forgotten the specifics of the welcome offer my wife applied for, Bank of America was offering a kindly reminder to help us in properly recalling the welcome offer terms.

We reached out to a spokesperson for Bank of America, and were able to confirm that Bank of America is now doing this for all new card accounts. If you get approved for a Bank of America credit card with a welcome offer, you should receive a note like this one when your card arrives in the mail.

Bottom Line:

This is a customer-friendly move, reminding new cardholders what bonus they applied for and the spending requirements to earn it.

Final Thoughts

Bank of America will now include a note with your new credit card that reminds you about the welcome bonus you applied for and how to earn it. It’s not personalized, meaning you won’t see the spending deadline for your credit card welcome bonus, but this is a great reminder for customers who don’t remember the specifics of the offer they applied for. Hopefully, other banks will join this trend soon.
