Getting to South Caicos in Turks and Caicos from the Northeast has traditionally meant connecting in Miami (MIA) or Providenciales (PLS), turning what should be a straightforward Caribbean getaway into a lengthy travel day.

That’s set to change this winter, as BermudAir has announced twice-weekly nonstop service from Newark (EWR) to South Caicos (XSC). Flights begin December 20, 2026, with introductory fares starting at $347 one-way.

Here’s why this is a win for travelers.

BermudAir Adding Nonstop Newark-South Caicos Flights

The new seasonal service will operate Thursdays and Sundays from December 20, 2026, until April 25, 2027, using BermudAir’s Embraer E190 aircraft. The nonstop flight will take roughly 3 1/2 hours, making it the first and only nonstop flight between the New York area and South Caicos.

Tickets are already available, with introductory fares beginning at $347 each way. Round-trip fares start at $773.

Travelers will also soon be able to book vacation packages through BermudAir Holidays, the airline’s vacation arm. Beginning next month, the company plans to offer packages combining flights with accommodations and experiences on the island.

South Caicos is part of a larger expansion in the Turks and Caicos market for BermudAir. The airline is also introducing seasonal nonstop or direct flights to Providenciales from Newark, Boston (BOS), Baltimore (BWI), Raleigh-Durham (RDU), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), St. Pete-Tampa (PIE), and Toronto (YYZ). Most of those routes launch in December, while Fort Lauderdale service is scheduled to begin October 26.

Why the New Route Is Significant

For most travelers, Turks and Caicos means Providenciales, particularly the resorts and beaches around Grace Bay. South Caicos offers a noticeably different experience. The island is quieter and far less developed, with empty stretches of sand, historic salt-pond ruins, and opportunities for bonefishing rather than the concentration of resorts found on Providenciales.

The challenge has always been getting there. From the New York area, travelers have generally needed to connect, potentially adding several hours to the journey. The sole nonstop route from the U.S. to South Caicos until now has been American Airlines‘ flight out of Miami.

The new Newark service cuts out that extra leg and makes South Caicos considerably more accessible.

For points and miles enthusiasts, there’s a great resort in South Caicos to book with points: Salterra, A Luxury Collection Resort & Spa. It’s roughly 10 minutes from South Caicos International Airport.

Salterra’s participation in Marriott Bonvoy is useful because luxury resorts in the Caribbean can have high prices, so finding worthwhile award availability could make Marriott Bonvoy points particularly valuable here.

BermudAir does not participate in a major transferable-points program, so you can’t send your Chase or Amex points to the airline to book these flights. However, the $773 starting price for round-trip reservations is competitive compared with connecting options from the New York area.

Hot Tip:

When paying for your flights, use a credit card with bonus earnings on airfare to maximize your rewards.

Final Thoughts

A new nonstop route to a calmer Caribbean island is unusual, and BermudAir’s Newark-South Caicos service could make the destination substantially more appealing to Northeastern travelers. A 3 1/2-hour flight, introductory fares from $347 each way, and a luxury resort just minutes from the airport create a compelling option for a winter escape.
