British Airways will increase connectivity between London Heathrow and Chicago next year by adding a third daily nonstop service from May 2024.

The British flag carrier will also be changing up the aircraft operating the route from December 2023. This will include swapping the much-loved A380, which currently operates one of the daily services, with a Boeing 777-300.

Here’s how BA’s London to Chicago flight might be different on your next trip.

Changes to British Airways’ Chicago to London Services

The first change to come to BA’s service from London to Chicago will be the withdrawal of the Airbus A380 from the route on December 12, 2023.

While the behemoth size of the A380 affords its passengers a superior level of comfort and, in general, a smoother flight, BA’s version of the Superjumbo features the airline’s outdated Club World business class.

Even though the product was once a game changer in the industry, the Club World cabin, which features 2-4-2 configured seats and doesn’t offer direct aisle access, has since been replaced by the airline’s Club Suite, which features on the Boeing 777-300 aircraft that will operate to Chicago instead of the A380.

Bottom Line:

British Airways’ Club Suite is a huge improvement over the airline’s outdated Club World. Here’s what it’s like to fly the product on the Boeing 777-300 and the Airbus A350-1000.

The 777-300 will be on the route for a short time until January 1, 2024, when the schedule and operating aircraft will change regularly until May 9, 2024. From then on, order will be restored with the introduction of a third daily service, and business class passengers will be guaranteed Club Suite with direct aisle access.

Here’s how BA’s London to Chicago services will look from May 9, 2024:

Final Thoughts

The changes to BA’s service between Chicago and Heathrow will be much welcomed by those who fly the route often, both in terms of frequency and quality of the business class experience.
