STARLUX Airlines is offering a major discount for award flights.

Until recently, the Taiwan-based carrier sold miles through its COSMILE loyalty program at a very steep price. Now, with this new discount, there’s a cheaper way to book STARLUX premium awards, including its particularly hard-to-book first class.

The promotion is at the following rate:

Buy 3,000 or more miles and get a 40% discount (2.4 cents per mile).

Purchases start at 1,000 miles, and, with a membership, you can buy up to 150,000 miles per transaction, which is also the maximum number of miles you can purchase each year.

Previously, miles sold at 4 cents each, so this is an excellent opportunity to stock up at a much lower price.

To buy miles, log in to your STARLUX account, head to the COSMILE section, and select Mileage Purchase. The promotion lasts through November 9, 2026, so complete your purchase by then if you want to take advantage.

Is It Worth It?

At 2.4 cents per mile, buying 150,000 miles would set you back $3,600.

That’s not chump change, but when you consider what you could redeem those miles for, it can make sense.

Booking STARLUX business class with Alaska Airlines Atmos Rewards points has generally been more accessible. First class is another story, as booking the carrier’s long-haul, first-class cabin with miles has been practically impossible.

STARLUX currently charges 130,000 COSMILE miles one-way in first class between Asia and the Americas or Europe. That means buying all 130,000 miles would cost $3,120.

That’s certainly not cheap, but when you consider that flights in STARLUX first class between the U.S. and Asia can often cost $12,000, you’d get a pretty excellent discount of nearly 75% off the normal cash price.

If you decide to buy STARLUX miles, keep in mind that STARLUX sells them through Points.com, so the purchase typically don’t earn a travel-category bonus. Consider using a card that earns strong rewards on everyday purchases or nonbonus spending.
