Capital One has launched its own travel app, separating its Capital One Travel platform from the main banking app for the first time.

If you’re a Capital One cardholder who regularly books through Capital One Travel, here’s what’s actually changed and whether it’s worth adding another app to your phone.

What’s New With the Capital One Travel App?

The biggest shift is structural. Rather than navigating through your Capital One banking app to reach the travel portal, you now have a dedicated space built exclusively for trip planning and management. Capital One Travel now has its own app.

Here’s a look at some of its key features.

All Travel Booking in a Single Place

Flights, hotels, rental cars, vacation rentals, and activities are all bookable within the app. Your Capital One miles balance is visible during checkout, so you can apply miles to your booking without toggling between screens. This removes a small but real friction point that existed in the previous experience.

Journey-Aware Homepage

The app adapts based on where you are in your trip. During the planning phase, it surfaces recommendations based on saved preferences like your home airport and loyalty programs. Once you’re in transit, the homepage automatically shifts to show live flight alerts, gate changes, and nearby airport amenities. It’s a practical feature that removes the need to dig for information you actually need in the moment.

Live Lounge Locator

For eligible cardholders with lounge access, this is one of the more useful additions. The Live Lounge Locator shows real-time capacity at Capital One Lounges and Landings, estimated wait times, and lets you join a digital waitlist before you even arrive at the airport. You’ll receive a QR code for check-in once it’s your turn.

Hot Tip:

Remember that Capital One just made changes to guest and authorized user access policies at lounges. The app updates don’t change these recently enacted policies to fight overcrowding.

Trip Management and Rebooking

If your plans change, the app includes self-service tools for managing delays and disruptions, plus quick rebooking options — and none of them require calling or signing in repeatedly. The app uses Long Live Access, keeping you signed in for up to 75 days.

Booking Recommendations

You’ll also see many of the features cardholders have come to expect from Capital One Travel. These include the ability to add protections to a trip during booking, as well as color-coded calendars to help you find the cheapest travel dates.

Who Can Use the New App?

The app is available to eligible Capital One rewards cardholders, including not just those with the premium Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card but also those with cards from the Savor, SavorOne, Quicksilver, and other card families. Additionally, the web version of Capital One Travel isn’t going away. The app is an additional option, not a replacement.

Final Thoughts

The Capital One Travel app is a logical evolution of what Capital One Travel already offered, now in a more accessible mobile format. The real-time lounge capacity feature stands out as genuinely useful, especially for frequent flyers navigating busy airports.

If you’re already booking travel through Capital One and using its lounges, downloading the app is a straightforward upgrade to how you manage those benefits on the go.
