After a long, pandemic-induced slump, Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific is expanding once again in North America, one of its most important markets globally.

Starting next spring, the airline will offer nonstop flights between its base in Hong Kong and Dallas-Fort Worth, one of the world’s busiest airports.

Here’s everything you need to know about this exciting new service.

Cathay Pacific To Launch New Route to Dallas

Cathay Pacific will start nonstop flights between Hong Kong (HKG) and Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) on April 24, 2025.

This marks the first time the Hong Kong-based airline will offer flights to Dallas, which will become the carrier’s sixth destination in the United States and eighth in North America.

The new flights will operate 4 times weekly — on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays — according to the following schedule:

  • Depart Hong Kong (HKG) 4:05 p.m. — Arrive Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) 5:55 p.m.
  • Depart Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) 11:55 p.m. — Arrive Hong Kong (HKG) 5:05 a.m. (+2)

The airline will use its new Airbus A350-1000 aircraft to operate this route. It offers a 3-class configuration with 46 lie-flat seats in business class, 32 recliner seats in premium economy, and 256 standard economy seats.

In addition to the new flights to Dallas, Cathay Pacific will increase capacity on its other North American routes in the spring. It will increase service to 3 daily flights from Hong Kong to Los Angeles (LAX), New York (JFK), and San Francisco (SFO). Meanwhile, it will bump Boston (BOS) and Chicago (ORD) service to daily, in addition to offering 2 daily flights to Vancouver (YVR) and 13 weekly flights to Toronto (YYZ).

In total, the carrier will offer 108 weekly frequencies between Hong Kong and North America by May 2025.

The addition of Dallas to Cathay’s network makes a lot of sense. It’s the home base and largest hub for American Airlines, a Oneworld alliance member along with Cathay Pacific. American Airlines operated nonstop service on its own metal for several years, but it was discontinued, so it’s hardly a surprise that Cathay Pacific stepped in to fill the void.

Cathay will benefit from American’s massive operation at DFW, as it will provide a substantial amount of “feed” from cities around the nation (and even further afield) for the flights setting off for Hong Kong. And in reverse, the partnership between the 2 airlines can take travelers originating in Hong Kong (or other points in Asia) and distribute them via Dallas to American’s vast network across the U.S. and more.

Final Thoughts

Cathay Pacific is set to launch nonstop flights between Hong Kong and Dallas-Fort Worth in April 2025. The carrier’s addition of a new city to its route map comes along with a significant expansion of service across the U.S. and North America.

Despite facing several pandemic-caused issues, Cathay Pacific remains a top carrier and we’re pleased to learn that it will soon offer more service to the United States.
