Cathay Pacific has officially relaunched its nonstop service between Seattle (SEA) and Hong Kong (HKG).

The flag carrier of Hong Kong is the only airline to offer nonstop service between the 2 cities.

“We are excited to resume direct passenger flights to Seattle, reinforcing our goal to deepen business and cultural ties between Hong Kong and a dynamic tech hub in the United States,” said Lavinia Lau, chief customer and commercial officer for Cathay Pacific.

Let’s take a look at the details.

Cathay Pacific’s Return to Seattle

Ready for the busy summer travel season, Seattle has just become the seventh U.S. city with nonstop Cathay Pacific flights to Hong Kong.

The route is operated by Cathay’s Airbus A350-900 aircraft. Cathay chose the aircraft adorned in its commemorative 80th anniversary livery to help celebrate the relaunch of its Seattle service.

While these are among the most modern planes in the airline’s fleet, they don’t feature the new Aria business class seats. We haven’t had the chance to try the Aria Suite out ourselves here yet at Upgraded Points.

Cathay’s Seattle route will operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with the following schedule:

  • Depart Hong Kong (HKG) at 1:30 p.m. and arrive in Seattle (SEA) at 10:10 a.m.
  • Depart Seattle (SEA) at 11:50 a.m. and arrive in Hong Kong (HKG) at 4:45 p.m. (+1 day)

Seattle joins Boston (BOS), Chicago (ORD), Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), Los Angeles (LAX), New York (JFK), San Francisco (SFO), Toronto (YYZ), and Vancouver (YVR) as the ninth North American airport to benefit from Cathay’s nonstop flights to Hong Kong.

In other news from Cathay Pacific, the airline will open its first-ever lounge in the U.S. this year. The flagship lounge, which is scheduled to open its doors with the inauguration of JFK’s all-new Terminal 6, will feature direct aircraft boarding — a first for any airline at JFK!

Hot Tip:

Thanks to points and miles, you can enjoy Cathay Pacific’s most premium in-flight experience without breaking the bank. Check out our guides on booking Cathay Pacific business class and first class with points to find out more.

Final Thoughts

As the only nonstop service between Seattle and Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific’s return to the Emerald City will provide excellent new travel opportunities for Pacific Northwesterners to Hong Kong and beyond.

While it’s a shame Cathay didn’t opt to send its Aria Suites on this new route, the airline’s Airbus A350s offer a solid business-class experience.
