Cathay Pacific is finally getting its own lounge at New York’s JFK Airport.

Opening in conjunction with the airline’s move into JFK’s brand-new Terminal 6, the lounge will be Cathay’s first dedicated space in New York — and a long-overdue upgrade for premium travelers heading to and from Hong Kong.

Here’s what you should know.

What To Expect From the New Cathay Pacific Lounge at JFK

Cathay Pacific is targeting a mid-2026 opening for its new lounge at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), coinciding with its relocation from Terminal 8 to the redeveloped Terminal 6, as first reported by Executive Traveler.

For premium travelers, that should mean easier check-in, quicker security, and less time walking around — especially since Terminal 6 is designed to be smaller and easier to navigate than many of JFK’s other terminals. Cathay is also aiming to offer direct boarding from the lounge for eligible passengers, a feature that’s still rare in the U.S. and a nice upgrade to the overall departure experience.

The lounge itself will span approximately 10,000 square feet and accommodate nearly 200 guests. From a design perspective, it will follow Cathay Pacific’s signature residential style created by Ilse Crawford, which travelers may recognize from the airline’s latest lounges in Hong Kong and other global hubs.

Expect Cathay Pacific’s signature Noodle Bar to be a focal point, backed up by food and drink options with a local New York twist. The lounge will also be equipped with modern essentials, including high-power USB-C outlets and wireless charging, all within a space designed to feel fresh and inviting. Shower suites will also be available — a particularly valuable perk for travelers before or after a long flight to or from Hong Kong.

While the lounge is primarily designed for business class passengers, Cathay is also carving out a dedicated area for first class travelers and top-tier Diamond members, similar to the exclusive zones found at its flagship lounges in Hong Kong.

Hot Tip:

If Cathay Pacific follows through on boarding directly from the lounge, it means less time hovering at the gate and more time actually enjoying the lounge. Just note that this perk will likely be reserved for first class, business class, and top-tier elite members.

Final Thoughts

This new lounge provides Cathay Pacific with a more permanent presence at JFK as the airline relocates to Terminal 6. Building the space from scratch allows for a more cohesive experience than what’s possible in shared or retrofitted lounges.

If the project stays on schedule, travelers flying Cathay Pacific out of New York later this year can expect a noticeable improvement from the airline’s current JFK lounge setup.
