If you travel internationally and/or do a lot of online shopping with your Chase card, there is an important update to be aware of.

Starting on February 17, 2026, Chase will end alerts for non-physical and international charges.

This means that cardholders will no longer automatically receive notifications on many important purchases that they have been used to receiving.

Let’s take a look at the details and how you can continue to monitor your spending.

Chase Security Updates

If you have a Chase card, check your emails for a message from Chase outlining upcoming changes to spending alerts, as was first noted by Doctor of Credit.

Starting February 17, 2026, Chase is ending alerts for non-physical and international charges.

That means any charge you make on your Chase card while traveling abroad, as well as any online, phone, or recurring charges, will no longer trigger an automatic alert.

This may be concerning to those who like to keep a close eye on spending and potential fraudulent charges, but Chase says that its internal risk systems still monitor transactions for fraud and that this is a change to alerts, not to protections.

Chase is not becoming less secure, the bank is just adjusting how it communicates with cardholders.

How To Keep Receiving Alerts

Despite Chase ending automatic alerts for non-physical and international charges, you can still manually enroll in alerts based on your personal preferences.

To do so, simply visit chase.com/alerts and click on “Get started” to view or manage your alerts.

For example, if you want to continue receiving all alerts even when traveling abroad or making purchases online, you can simply set your Transactions threshold to $1 and receive an email or push notification whenever a charge exceeds that amount.

While the extra notifications may be intrusive to some, the peace of mind may be worth the tradeoff.

Bottom Line:

Chase will continue to monitor for fraud and will flag your account if suspicious activity is detected, despite reducing notifications for certain purchases.

Final Thoughts

Chase is ending notifications for non-physical and international charges starting on February 17, 2026.

While this may feel like a downgrade in account security, Chase promises that 24/7 fraud monitoring will remain, and cardholders will receive a text, email, or call if they detect unusual purchases on their credit card.

Plus, you can still set up custom alerts in your Chase account to receive notifications based on your preferences.
