Chase Travel Now Offering Price Match Guarantee for Some Customers

Without any press, Chase Travel just added a new price match guarantee for hotel bookings made through its portal.

While it’s currently limited to 1 credit card, it’s a nice addition for travelers who’ve long wished the portal could compete more aggressively on value. Could this benefit roll out to additional customers in the future? We certainly hope so.

Here’s what we know about the Chase Travel price match benefit so far.

Chase Travel Portal Now Offers Price Match on Hotel Bookings

Reports first surfaced in Reddit’s r/ChaseSapphire community that Chase Travel is now offering a price match guarantee on hotel bookings made through the portal. According to the original poster, the feature appeared when booking a stay using the Sapphire Reserve for Business℠.

The original poster also holds the Chase Sapphire Reserve^®, which doesn’t show the price match benefit.

What is a price match? It’s a guarantee that if you find a lower publicly available rate for the same hotel room elsewhere after booking, Chase refunds you the difference. To qualify, you need to submit a claim within 24 hours of booking and at least 24 hours before check-in. The competing rate must be an exact match to your Chase Travel reservation — meaning the same property, room type, bed type, dates, number of guests, and cancellation policy.

The nightly rate difference must be greater than $5, and rates that are loyalty-member-only, promotional, corporate, or accessed through a coupon do not qualify. If approved, Chase refunds the difference in the same form of payment — points, cash, or a combination of the two — within 1 or 2 billing cycles.

The Reddit poster submitted their claim the evening they booked and received approval approximately 11 hours later, suggesting the review process can be quite fast.

Why This Is a (Small) Win for Travelers

Price match benefits give travelers real leverage. You can book through the portal to earn more points on travel, then submit a claim if you spot a lower rate elsewhere. It’s a compelling reason to use Chase Travel rather than book directly — and to feel good about doing so.

That said, availability appears limited for now. Based on current reports, this benefit is only visible to Chase Sapphire Reserve Business cardholders. Personal Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders aren’t seeing the option yet, despite the card otherwise offering the same Chase Travel portal experience. Interestingly, Chase’s own terms and conditions list both the Chase Sapphire Reserve card and the J.P. Morgan Reserve Card as qualifying cards for the price match benefit, so this may simply be a phased rollout, not a permanent exclusion.

It’s also worth noting that Chase isn’t the first issuer to provide price-matching in its travel portal. Capital One Travel has offered a price-match guarantee for some time. But Chase’s entry signals that travel portals are increasingly competing for your hotel bookings, which is ultimately good news for consumers no matter which card they carry.
