IHG has opened its first hotel on the island of Guam.
The all-new Crowne Plaza Resort welcomed its first guests on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.
“We very much look forward to introducing our beautiful new resort experience to local residents and visitors alike,” said Thomas Mayrhofer, regional general manager and general manager of Crowne Plaza Resort Guam.
Here’s what you can expect from a stay at IHG’s newest Micronesian property.
Crowne Plaza Resorts Arrives in Guam
The westernmost point and territory of the U.S. has just welcomed its first ever IHG property: the Crowne Plaza Resort Guam.
At its beachfront location along the pristine white sands of Tumon Bay, the hotel offers a total of 321 rooms, including suites designed with families in mind.
There’s also a Club Lounge where guests staying in Premium Club Lounge Access rooms or in suites will be able to enjoy daily complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea, snacks, and evening cocktails.
Guests also have a choice 4 on-resort dining locations:
The Terrace: A buffet inspired by flavors and dishes from around the Mediterranean
Infinity Bar: The perfect spot for a cocktail, glass of bubbles, and light bites at sunset
Lobby Bar: The go-to spot for your morning caffeine fix, a cheeky pastry, and even the hotel’s signature “royal tea”
Cabana Sunset Dinner Show: Coming later in 2023, guests can enjoy a BBQ dinner with entertainment such as magic performances
Cash rates start from around $220 per night, while the lowest IHG One points redemption starts at 30,000 per night.
Guam joins fellow the island of Saipan as only the second Micronesian island with an IHG property.
“We are extremely proud to be officially opening the first Crowne Plaza Resort in Guam and the second Crowne Plaza Resort in Micronesia, helping to open the gateway to new, world-class stay experiences for our guests,” said Mayrhofer.
Getting to Guam
The only nonstop service connecting Guam (GUM) to a U.S. state is operated by United Airlines via Honolulu (HNL).
Given Guam’s proximity to Asia, there are several nonstop services to the island from Japan, The Philippines, South Korea, and Taiwan, as well as a handful of other Micronesian islands.
Final Thoughts
IHG has put Guam on the map with its newly-opened Crown Plaza Resort.
It might not be the easiest to get to from the U.S., but it will certainly be enjoyed by those who venture across the Pacific to check it out.
