IHG is opening a new resort in an exciting location, Palau in Micronesia, at the end of 2024.
Here’s what you need to know.
Palau Gets IHG’s Third Hotel in Micronesia
IHG has announced that it has entered into an agreement with Palau Coral Club, a hospitality management company, to open Hotel Indigo Palau in Micronesia.
Palau is an archipelago of more than 500 islands in the western Pacific Ocean between Papua New Guinea and the Philippines. It’s world-famous for its coral reefs and attracts swimmers and divers from across the globe. The hotel will be located on Malakal Island and will offer swimming and diving activities for guests.
The hotel will have roughly 200 rooms, an all-day restaurant, a pool bar, meeting rooms that can hold 60 people, a resort center, a swimming pool, a spa, and a gym. Hotel Indigo Palau is expected to open for guests in late 2024.
IHG says Hotel Indigo Palau will be “easily accessible” from feeder markets Japan, South Korea, and China to its main airport Roman Tmetuchl International Airport (ROR). Currently, United Airlines operates flights between Palau and Guam’s Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport (GUM).
“I’m so proud and excited that we have signed an agreement to open a Hotel Indigo property in Palau with the owner, Palau Coral Club, said Abhijay Sandilya, IHG’s managing director for Japan & Micronesia. “This will be IHG’s first property in Palau and its third in Micronesia. It also follows on from the recent signing of Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya with PPIH, which will open in 2023.”
The Hotel Indigo becomes IHG’s third property in Micronesia, a subregion of Oceania with more than 600 islands. It will join Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts Saipan and Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts Guam, both of which start at 31,000 IHG One Rewards points.
Earning IHG One Rewards points is relatively simple if you’re interested in booking a stay at any of IHG’s Micronesia properties. IHG offers 2 personal and 1 business credit card, all of which are issued by Chase. You can also transfer your stash of Chase Ultimate Rewards or Bilt Rewards points to IHG One Rewards at a 1:1 ratio.

Final Thoughts
Divers and swimmers alike will be huge fans of Hotel Indigo Palau when it opens late next year. While we’re still learning about the hotel, including whether it will participate in the IHG One Rewards loyalty program, make sure to check out IHG’s other properties in Micronesia if you find yourself planning a trip to the region!
