It’s not every day that we see cheap flights to Malta, a small island country in the Mediterranean Sea.

But there’s a fantastic deal to the island from several U.S. cities starting at just $404 round-trip. And even better — thes fares are widespread, even during peak season.

Let’s take a look.

Fare Deal — Details

This deal is to Malta (MLA) from several U.S. cities, including Boston (BOS), Newark (EWR), and New York (JFK). You’ll find deals on a handful of airlines, including British Airways, Lufthansa, and SWISS.

All deals include a layover in Europe, usually in one of the London-area airports or Frankfurt (FRA).

Play around with a few dates on Google Flights, but book directly through the airline.

  • Class: Economy
  • Routes: Boston (BOS), Newark (EWR), and New York (JFK) to Malta (MLA)
  • Dates: August 2025 through February 2026
  • Rates: As low as $404 round-trip

Usually, we recommend booking directly through the airline (in case you need to make changes to your reservation). However, in this instance, booking through an online travel agency (OTA) is a more cost-effective option.

For instance, the round-trip ticket between New York and Malta on British Airways through Orbitz is $404.91.

We found this same flight operated by British Airways for $472 when booked through the airline. That’s higher than what online travel agencies are charging.

That said, while OTAs might save you a bit upfront, if your travel plans change or something goes wrong, you’ll have to deal with the OTA — not the airline — which can be a much bigger hassle. Also, keep in mind these are basic economy fares, which often mean extra charges for seat selection and checked baggage, depending on the airline.

Hot Tip:

There are a ton of points hotels, boutiques, and resorts in Malta, so you’ll have no problems earning and redeeming points during your stay. Some of the best hotels in Malta include AC Hotel by Marriott St. Julian’s, Malta Marriott Resort & Spa, and the InterContinental Malta by IHG.

How To Book

This deal is particularly special due to how far into 2026 the cheapest tickets are available.

We’re even seeing low fares during Malta’s peak season, which is between July and August. No matter when you plan to travel to the island, you shouldn’t have problems finding dates that work.

After settling on dates, you’ll then want to book using a card that rewards you for travel purchases. Some of the best travel cards include The Platinum Card® from American ExpressChase Sapphire Reserve®, and Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card

Final Thoughts

Cheap flights to Malta are pretty rare, especially on mainline carriers, so finding deals to the island starting at $400 round-trip is a great way to start the week.

If you want to check Malta off your bucket list, be sure to take advantage of these fares before they’re gone!
