Update:The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

This great value business class deal can get you all the way from the West Coast of the U.S. to Germany and Switzerland starting at just $2,281.

This is no low-cost, janky, non-lie-flat business class either. The fares are with the Finnish flag carrier Finnair on their state-of-the-art Airbus A350 aircraft.

If you were thinking about visiting one of these countries, this deal is worthwhile. Let’s take a look at the details.

Deal Alert — Details

The best fares are from Los Angeles (LAX) to Geneva (GVA) and Frankfurt (FRA) with a stopover in Helsinki (HEL).

If you’re flexible with your dates and destination, try playing around with Google Flights’ handy ‘Explore’ tool to see which other European destinations might pique your interest.

  • Class: Business Class
  • Routes: Los Angeles (LAX) to Geneva (GVA) and Frankfurt (FRA) via Helsinki (HEL)
  • Dates: May 2023 though April 2024
  • Rates: from $2,281 round-trip

When booking directly through Finnair, round-trip business class fares start at $2,281.

Finnair is a member of the Oneworld alliance, so when booking these flights you would be topping up your Alaska Airlines or American Airlines frequent flyer programs with a ton of air miles and elite status earning points.

As the flights are with Finnair, there’s a layover in Helsinki (HEL) — the airline’s hub. Most of the flights with the lowest prices have overnight stopovers in at least 1 direction which could be a great opportunity to do a bit of sightseeing.

Another great option is from LA to Frankfurt from just $2,353.

Best Ways To Book

When booking a cash ticket, it’s always a good idea to use a travel rewards credit card that will compensate you for booking flights.

For example, The Platinum Card® from American Express will earn you 5x points per dollar spent on flights when booked through the AmexTravel.com portal or directly with the airline (up to $500,000 per year; then 1x points).

Having an Amex Platinum card can also get you lounge access — even if you’re flying in economy — thanks to the Priority Pass membership (upon enrolment) that comes as a benefit of the card.

Booking through an online travel agency (OTA) such as Kayak or Expedia can potentially save you a few dollars, which can seem appealing at the time of booking. However, it’s worth remembering that if you need to make changes or cancellations, the headache that can often come with dealing with an OTA can make the money you saved seem insignificant.

Final Thoughts

Thanks to Finnair’s bargain business-class fares, you can get from LA all the way to Germany and Switzerland from just $2,281.

At first glance that might not seem necessarily cheap, but according to Google Flights, the fares are thousands of dollars cheaper than they would normally be.
