Update:The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

Delta teased that “something was coming” a few months ago … and then things went nuts for a while. Now, that promotion is finally here, and Delta’s Beyond the Summer Event is offering discounted award redemptions to Europe, Asia, Oceania, and more.

Thanks to this new Delta promotion, you could score cheap SkyMiles redemptions to numerous places, and the deals get even better if you have a Delta credit card. Here’s everything you need to know — including the fact you need to book soon.

Delta’s “Beyond the Summer” Event — The Details

First things first, you need to book these offers by August 29, 2024. That doesn’t give you much time to find a deal, make plans, and then book your tickets.

You’ll also want to take note of the eligible travel dates:

  • Asia and South Pacific
    • Japan: October 2, 2024, to March 15, 2025
    • China: October 2 to November 30, 2024
    • Australia and New Zealand: October 2, 2024, to February 28, 2025
    • French Polynesia, Taiwan, and South Korea: October 29, 2024, to February 28, 2025
  • Europe: November 1, 2024, to March 8, 2025

And if you’ve been disappointed by Delta One business-class awards showing a price of 300,000+ miles per person, you’ll be delighted to know that the current deals range from basic economy to Delta One.

The promotion landing page allows you to sort by origin airport, fare class, and destination region (or leave this blank to see all deals). And, discounts are available on both cash fares and SkyMiles awards.

These deals get even better if you have a Delta co-branded credit card, however. Aside from the Delta SkyMiles® Blue American Express Card, which doesn’t include this benefit, Delta Amex cardholders can enjoy a 15% discount when booking award tickets on Delta-operated flights.

For example, Delta is advertising fares between Los Angeles and Tokyo for 40,000 miles round-trip in economy, per person. As a cardholder, though, this trip is available for 34,000 SkyMiles — and that’s round-trip!

If you’d rather go to Europe, we saw fares below 30,000 SkyMiles round-trip from Boston and New York City to multiple destinations across the continent. Note, however, that those prices are reflective of the 15% discount available with eligible Delta co-branded cards.

Sadly, the filters on the promotion page don’t let you select Delta One business class as your search option. However, there are business class deals available. You’ll just have to hunt for them.

For example, you can fly from Seattle to Taiwan for 83,300 miles one-way with the cardholder discount.

For 119,000 miles per person, you could fly one-way from New York City to Milan (MXP).

There are numerous domestic offers, as well, such as Seattle (SEA) to San Diego (SAN) for 2,100 miles per person in basic economy or 4,200 miles per person in regular economy (Main Cabin).

But remember that there are cash deals in this sale also. You could book that same flight for as little as $49.

Final Thoughts

Delta’s latest promotion is delayed, but it may have been worth the wait. There are some incredible deals on domestic flights and solid offers for international awards as well. While it’s a bummer that you can’t filter by Delta One awards in this sale, the deals are out there if you put in the work to find them.
