Delta is adding a new route to its map, with a new flight from Boston to Mexico City. This will be a unique, new route for the carrier, and will provide connecting traffic to and from partner Aeromexico and its hub in Mexico City.
New Route
This new flight will commence on December 21, 2023, but are now bookable. The flight will be operated by a Boeing 757 aircraft with 24 recliner-style first class seats, 21 Delta Comfort+ extra legroom seats, and 135 traditional economy class seats.
The flight will operate on the following schedule:
Depart Boston (BOS) 7:50 a.m.— arrive Mexico City (MEX) 12:55 p.m.
Depart Mexico City (MEX) 2:00 p.m. — arrive Boston 7:51 p.m.
You’ll notice the flights arrive in Mexico City early in the afternoon, allowing you to connect to any number of Aeromexico flights departing after that. Aeromexico is a closer partner with Delta and is a member of the SkyTeam alliance. Conceivably, you could fly from Boston to Mexico City and then down to Central and South America, all in the same day.
The return is also similarly timed to depart mid-afternoon, allowing you the morning to fly in on an Aeromexico flight, and then continue up to Boston on Delta. The 757 is quite a large aircraft for this route, so Delta is obviously anticipating quite a bit of demand.
Boston has recently become a hub for Delta, and the airline offers several transatlantic and domestic services from this Northeast city. While it’s uncertain what the demand is from there to Mexico, the airline is clearly leveraging partnerships to make the most out of the flight.
Delta’s new route to Mexico City will commence in December 2023 and will provide a nice opportunity for connections to south of Mexico for those that live in the Northeast U.S. If you’re a Delta loyalist, this flight may be of particular interest to you in a hub city served by nearly every major international carrier.
