Delta Air Lines is adding another premium transcontinental route to its network. Beginning next spring, the airline will launch 2x daily nonstop flights between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

The carrier also announced several other network additions, including seasonal domestic routes and temporary nonstop service from Asia to Las Vegas.

Here’s what you need to know about Delta’s latest route additions.

Delta Adding Newark-to-Los Angeles Route

The biggest announcement is Delta‘s new nonstop service between Newark (EWR) and Los Angeles (LAX), which begins April 12, 2027. The airline will operate the route twice daily with its Airbus A321neo aircraft.

The addition gives travelers another option on one of the country’s busiest transcontinental business routes. It’s also a notable move because United has long dominated Newark with its hub operation, making this one of Delta’s most interesting domestic route additions in recent months.

For travelers, the new route also brings Delta’s newer A321neo experience, including First Class recliners, Delta Comfort+, seatback entertainment, larger overhead bins, and fast Wi-Fi.

For SkyMiles members, the new route should also mean more opportunities to redeem miles on a premium transcontinental flight.

Hot Tip:

If you’re hoping to book Delta’s new Newark-to-Los Angeles route with SkyMiles, keep an eye on award pricing when the flights become available. Because Delta uses dynamic pricing, redemption rates can vary widely, especially on popular nonstop routes.

More Routes Are Joining Delta’s Network

Beyond the new Newark-to-Los Angeles service, Delta also announced several seasonal routes and limited-time flights tied to CES 2027, the annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Here’s a look at the routes Delta is adding:

The new routes serve different purposes. The Austin-to-Fort Myers and New York-to-Melbourne routes are seasonal additions aimed at leisure travelers, while the Hong Kong and Taipei flights are temporary routes timed around CES 2027.

To support the influx of CES attendees, Delta will also add extra flights from several key hubs, including Atlanta (ATL), Detroit (DTW), New York (JFK), Seattle (SEA), Amsterdam (AMS), Paris (CDG), and London (LHR).

Final Thoughts

Delta’s starting a flight between Newark and Los Angeles means moving into United’s home turf on one of the most competitive business corridors in the country. That alone makes this worth watching. The seasonal Florida routes and CES flying are smaller additions, but they round out a network expansion that covers leisure, business, and international travel.
