Lost your hard-earned Delta Medallion status this year? No worries: Delta is giving select Medallion members the chance to get back their elite status.

Successful applicants will enjoy 3 months complimentary status with the possibility of extending until January 31, 2026.

Here’s how you’ll be able to get your Delta Medallion status back without having to fly and spend a ton of money!

How To Reclaim Your Delta Elite Status

Delta’s “Reclaim My Statusprogram is now live for new applicants between January 26 and December 31, 2024.

Before you apply, make sure that you’re ready to start traveling again, as the 3 month-window will start the same day that your application is granted.

If you travel enough within the 3-month period to meet the minimum travel and spend thresholds for your reclaimed status, your Medallion status will be extended until January 31, 2026.

Hot Tip:

Getting elite status with Delta has become more difficult as the airline made sweeping changes to its status requirements. As a reminder, there are 4 levels of elite status in Delta’s Medallion program: Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond.

Who is Delta’s Reclaim My Status For?

Sometimes life throws curveballs our way and we have to give up the things we love, like travel.

Delta recognizes this and promises to restore the lost status of certain Medallion members who have experienced life events that impacted their ability to travel and keep their status.

Each application to reclaim status will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. However, life events such as becoming a parent, getting a new job, becoming a student again, suffering from health problems (excluding COVID-19), and having to take care of a friend or family member will all be classed by Delta as valid reasons to have your status restored.

If any of the above applies to you, there are a few requirements to know before applying:

  • Medallion Status must have been earned in the previous Medallion year but lost or downgraded to a lower tier
  • Documentation to verify that a travel-reducing life event occurred
  • You can only participate in the program once every 3 years

Final Thoughts

A fresh New Year means a fresh slate for some Delta SkyMiles elite members who might have lost their status due to travel-limiting life events. Delta’s newest application cycle of Reclaim My Status is now live, so now’s the time to get your Medallion status back!
