The wearable DisneyBand+ bracelet common at the Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort will soon become commonplace on Disney cruises. This smart band will allow guests to engage better with the cruise line and will make the guest experience a lot more friendly since you’ll be able to tap and go as you work your way through dining, photo experiences, offshore excursions, and more.

DisneyBand+ Evolving From MagicBand+

If you’ve been to Walt Disney World or Disneyland in recent years, you’re likely already familiar with the MagicBand+ technology. This reusable wristband, available starting at $34.99, can open your guest room door, charge dining or souvenirs to your account, and access the theme parks and many other on-site guest experiences. It’s essentially a smart technology that knows who you are and what experiences you’re entitled to, and rather than having to open up your phone or swipe a room key, you’re able to simply tap and go. Of course, if you don’t want to use the MagicBand+ concept you don’t have to. You can get a traditional hotel key from the front desk, or use your Apple Watch for a MagicBand+-like experience that will store your theme park tickets and more.

The DisneyBand+ takes the MagicBand+ technology to Disney Cruise Line and will be available on select Disney Wish sailings before its official debut this summer.

DisneyBand+ will serve many purposes, including:

  • Accessing your onboard stateroom.
  • Charging things to your on-file credit card and account, such as dining that may not be included or off-shore excursions.
  • Storing information about your experience, such as which off-shore excursions you’re participating in. Rather than having to print a ticket or give your name, you’ll be able to simply tap your band with the cast member in charge.
  • Linking your Disney’s PhotoPass to your stateroom; just tap your band with the photographer so they know which photos are of you.
  • Accessing the kids’ clubs while onboard and at Castaway Cay (for children ages 3+).

The DisneyBand+ is waterproof and features a rechargeable battery (good for around 1 to 3 days) with a 6-inch USD charging cable. Similar to MagicBand+, it will also be able to pair with most smart devices, including Apple and Android.

You’ll be able to use your DisneyBand+ from your cruise at Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort, and similarly, if you’ve purchased a MagicBand+, you can use this as a DisneyBand+ during select sailings.

Hot Tip: There will be a fee of $34.99 to $44.99 (depending on the design) to purchase the DisneyBand+ as it is not included in your cruise fare.

Final Thoughts

Most guests of Disney are huge fans of the MagicBand+ bracelet concept, and it makes getting around Disney’s resorts much easier. Now that the technology is coming to cruises, you can expect the same seamless experience onboard with DisneyBand+.
