Disney is once again making adjustments to its popular Lightning Lane Premier Pass.

Starting January 21, 2025, all guests visiting Walt Disney World, not just guests of Disney resorts, will have access to the Lightning Lane Premier Pass pilot program.

The expensive add-on allows guests a one-time entry to each Lightning Lane experience in a theme park without the need for reservations and return times.

Let’s take a look at the details.

Lightning Lane Premier Pass

The Lightning Lane Premier Pass was first introduced in October 2024. It allows guests to enjoy one-time access to all Lightning Lane experiences in their chosen theme park without needing to reserve or schedule in advance.

Premier Pass is a more robust version of the new Lightning Lane Single Pass and Multi Pass programs.

When it was first introduced, Premier Pass was only available to select Disney resorts and hotel guests and then later to all Disney resort and hotel guests, and now, finally, any Walt Disney World guest with a ticket.

Guests who splurge for the Premier Pass add-on (in addition to the park ticket) will be able to skip the line at the most popular attractions at Walt Disney World and get some great Disney PhotoPass perks and digital downloads.

The Lightning Lane Premier Pass is good for 1 admission to any Lightning Lane experience in the park per day.

Cost and Availability

Lightning Lane Premier Pass has a hefty price tag, but it could be worth it if you really hate lines and don’t want to pay for a VIP tour.

At Walt Disney World, Premier Passes costs between $129 and $449 per person per day, depending on the park and date.

Guests staying at a Walt Disney Resort Hotel still get an extra perk as they can purchase passes starting at 7 a.m. ET up to 7 days before the first day of their stay for their entire length of stay (up to 14 days total).

All other Walt Disney World guests can purchase up to 3 days in advance of their park visit.

At Disneyland in California, the Lightning Lane Premier Pass costs between $300 and $400 per person per day, depending on the date. Guests have always been able to purchase a Premier Pass, regardless of where they’re staying.

Hot Tip:

Park hopping at Walt Disney World is still not permitted with the Lightning Lane Premier Pass.

Final Thoughts

As of January 21, 2025, Lightning Lane Premier Pass is available for all Walt Disney World guests to purchase. Staying at a specific Disney hotel is no longer a prerequisite for purchasing this popular (and expensive) line-skipping program.

This is good news for guests who may live nearby or who are staying off-property but still want to try out Premier Pass.
