Those with the American Express® Gold Card should note that a benefit associated with one of their card’s perks will soon change. That’s because Dunkin’ Rewards has announced a new, stricter expiration policy as of October 6, 2025.

Not everything is changing about Dunkin’ Rewards — and not all of the changes are bad, to be clear.

Here’s what you should know about these upcoming changes, a new expiration policy, and what Dunkin’ Rewards has to do with your Amex Gold card.

What Is the Dunkin’ Benefit on the Amex Gold Card?

Those with the Amex Gold card can get up to $84 in statement credits each year on purchases at Dunkin’ locations across the U.S. — and there are over 9,000 of them, so there’s probably one close to you. This benefit is available for up to $7 per month, and enrollment is required to use this benefit.

Whether you’re making a purchase in store, ordering in the mobile app, or simply reloading your balance, all of these should trigger the monthly benefit and provide a statement credit on your Amex Gold card.

What’s Changing With Dunkin’ Rewards?

If you’re using the Amex Gold card at Dunkin’, you might as well sign up for Dunkin’ Rewards to earn points and freebies along the way.

Now, Dunkin’ has emailed Rewards members to let them know about some upcoming changes on October 6, 2025. The email came with the subject “Get ready for a Dunkin’ Rewards refresh.”

The email teased that personalized offers will be part of the refreshed program, and there should be more options for redeeming your rewards points going forward — though specific details aren’t available yet.

However, Dunkin’ Rewards will institute a stricter expiration policy for your points on October 6. Previously, points only expired after 6 months of inactivity in your account. Now, points will expire 12 months after they’re earned — with no possibility to extend them.

They’ll expire at the end of the 12th month, so points earned on January 10, 2026, will expire on January 31, 2027.

This means you should be sure to redeem your rewards before they expire. However, you shouldn’t redeem them until you’re ready to use the reward. Once you turn your points into a reward for a drink or food, you have 30 days to use the redemption — another expiration policy you should pay attention to.

Not everything is changing with Dunkin’ Rewards, however. The earning rates, member perks, and paths to Boosted Status will remain the same.

Final Thoughts

Those with the Amex Gold card can enjoy monthly statement credits with Dunkin’, and it’s a good idea to participate in Dunkin’ Rewards for extra perks along the way. Starting in October, there will be more personalized rewards, more redemption options, and a new, shorter expiration policy.

Previously, you just needed to have activity in your account every 6 months to avoid losing your rewards. Now, the rewards will expire after 12 months, and you’ll need to use them or lose them.
