Delta is giving its SkyMiles members an opportunity to climb the status ranks more quickly.

From February 28 through March 31, 2023, SkyMiles members will earn bonus Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) on car and hotel bookings made through Delta’s travel portal.

Let’s take a look at the details.

Qualify Faster for Elite Status

For a limited time only, you’ll be able to earn MQDs on hotel and car rental bookings, in addition to flights as you normally would.

As long as you book through the Delta Travel Extras portal before March 31, 2023, and travel before September 4, 2023, you’ll be eligible to earn the bonus MQDs, helping you climb the ranks of Delta SkyMiles elite status faster.

The earning rate for all members will be 1 MQD per dollar spent. Note that earnings apply only to base rates for your hotel or car rental bookings — taxes and fees are not eligible for MQD earning.

Hot Tip: When booking any travel with Delta, consider booking your trip(s) with one of the best cards for Delta flyers, as they will afford you even more benefits in addition to the MQDs you can earn through this promotion.

The bonus MQDs will only be earned upon completion of the car rental or hotel stay, not at the time of booking.

It goes without saying that you must include your SkyMiles number at the time of booking if it’s not automatically added.

Delta says that it can take up to 8 weeks for the bonus MQDs to show up in members’ SkyMiles accounts.

The bonus MQDs are in addition to the miles you’ll already earn as a Delta SkyMiles member. For example, Silver Medallion members are eligible to earn 5 redeemable SkyMiles per dollar spent when booking a Hertz car rental through Delta’s portal.

The number of MQDs required to achieve each level of Delta Medallion status (in addition to completing a Medallion Qualification Mile or Medallion Qualification Segment requirement) are shown below:

  • Silver Medallion: 3,000 MQDs
  • Gold Medallion: 8,000 MQDs
  • Platinum Medallion: 12,000 MQDs
  • Diamond Medallion: 20,000 MQDs

Final Thoughts

Earning Delta Medallion elite status has become a little easier thanks to the airline’s latest promotion that awards 1 MQD per dollar spent on hotel bookings and car rentals. Make sure you don’t miss out on this opportunity!
