LEVEL is a Barcelona-based long-haul airline operating with a low-cost model. If you’re not familiar with it, you may be surprised to find out that LEVEL operates some flights that are sold by Iberia, the Oneworld alliance member.

Now, when you fly on LEVEL, you may be able to earn miles in your British Airways or American Airlines account, and you can even earn Loyalty Points toward elite status with AA on these flights.

Here’s what you should know about earning with BA and AA on LEVEL-operated flights going forward.

What Is LEVEL?

LEVEL is a low-cost, long-haul airline based in Spain that focuses on affordable transatlantic flights without the frills of traditional full-service carriers. Launched by IAG — the parent company of Iberia and British Airways — LEVEL primarily operates from Barcelona (BCN) and connects travelers to major destinations in the Americas.

The airline appeals to budget-minded passengers by keeping base fares low; travelers can pay to add on things like checked bags, seat selection, and meals as needed. With a modern fleet and a straightforward approach to pricing, LEVEL has become a popular option for those looking to cross the Atlantic at a lower cost while still flying with a well-established airline group.

Although LEVEL operates many flights on behalf of Iberia, it isn’t a member of the Oneworld alliance. It’s long been possible to earn Avios in the Club Iberia Plus program when flying with LEVEL, even though your Iberia elite benefits, if any, won’t apply on these flights.

Now, American Airlines AAdvantage and The British Airways Club have updated their partner pages to offer earnings on LEVEL under certain conditions.

You can earn British Airways Avios on LEVEL flights when they’re booked under an Iberia flight code. Members will earn Avios on these flights the same way they would on Iberia’s own flights, starting at 5x earnings and including bonus Avios if you have elite status with BA.

AA members can earn AAdvantage miles and earn Loyalty Points toward AA elite status on Iberia-marketed flights that are operated by LEVEL. AAdvantage members will earn AA miles at the standard rates (starting at 5x for base members) for these LEVEL-operated flights, based on the fare price paid, and elite members are eligible for bonus earnings according to their status tier.

Hot Tip:

LEVEL recently became its own airline, having previously been a subsidiary of Iberia. Thus, it won’t be a surprise if more airlines and reward programs continue to forge partnerships with LEVEL and offer mileage earnings on these flights.

Final Thoughts

You now have more options for earning points and miles when flying with LEVEL, the low-cost, long-haul carrier based in Spain that’s no longer just a subsidiary of Iberia but now its own airline. Along with ongoing earning opportunities in the Club Iberia Plus program, you can now earn Avios with The British Airways Club or earn miles and Loyalty Points with the American Airlines AAdvantage program.
