Ennismore (formerly known as SBE) announced on September 19 that it was expanding the luxury Mama Shelter brand with a second location in Los Angeles.

Let’s take a look at the announcement.

Second Mama Shelter Property in Los Angeles

Mama Shelter Downtown LA will have 145 rooms and 4 suites. The hotel will have 3 food and beverage options: an all-day dining restaurant and café on the ground floor and a rooftop bar and terrace with views of Los Angeles.

The hotel is expected to open for guests in 2026.

This marks a significant expansion for the Mama Shelter brand. When it opens, Mama Shelter Downtown LA will become the second in Los Angeles, after Mama Shelter LA, which opened in 2015 in Hollywood.

If you aren’t familiar, Mama Shelter was founded in 2008 in Paris as a concept hotel. The brand is known for bringing people together through eclectic offerings and high-quality dining. Today, you’ll find 17 Mama Shelter hotels in 9 countries, with another 13 in the pipeline.

Booking Mama Shelter Hotels

While Mama Shelter Downtown LA doesn’t open until 2026, that doesn’t mean you can’t book other Mama Shelter properties in the meantime.

For instance, the Mama Shelter LA rates can be found for as low as $180 this fall. If you want to explore other destinations, you’ll find competitive rates in Europe, especially if you’re traveling this fall or winter. Rates at Mama Shelter Bordeaux in France start at $116 per night this fall, while nights at the Mama Shelter Prague are as low as $92 this winter.

Mama Shelter is part of the Ennismore family, which participates in the ALL – Accor Live Limitless program. That means you can earn and redeem points at the properties.

This is pretty exciting news and shows that Ennismore is laser-focused on expanding the Mama Shelter brand in Los Angeles. While the Downtown LA property doesn’t open for a few more years, you should still check out the hotel in Hollywood and other Mama Shelter properties worldwide!
