EVA Air is continuing its push into the U.S. market with a brand-new destination heading to the East Coast.

If you’ve been watching Taiwanese carriers expand their transpacific footprints, you’ll know this is a big move. EVA Air is bringing nonstop flights to Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) starting in mid-2026. And this isn’t just another route. It’s a strategic play into a politically and commercially important market that’s been underserved in terms of direct flights to Asia.

Let’s take a closer look at this exciting new route between Taipei, Taiwan, and Washington, D.C.

New EVA Air Flights to Washington, D.C.

EVA Air has announced new, nonstop service between Taipei’s Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) and Washington Dulles that will start on June 26, 2026, including an initial schedule of 4 flights per week. Originally, these flights were planned to start in July, but that was bumped forward.

The flights will be operated with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, EVA’s workhorse for long-haul service. Though exact departure and arrival times are still being finalized, the airline has hinted the schedule will mirror its existing New York service: evening departures from Taipei and evening arrivals in the U.S., with the return leg landing back in Taiwan early the next morning.

At 7,864 miles, this will rank among EVA Air’s longest flights — a testament to the airline’s confidence in connecting D.C. not only to Taiwan but to wider Asia and onward destinations through its hub.

Why Washington, D.C.? EVA Air points to strong business demand across political, financial, technological, and military sectors, plus a significant Asian diaspora in the metropolitan D.C. area. The fact that Dulles is a Star Alliance hub via United Airlines also adds connectivity appeal, which should help feed onward traffic across the U.S. and beyond.

Plus, EVA will be the only airline offering nonstop flights between D.C. and Taiwan — something that’s sure to draw travelers who previously required connections.

EVA Air’s Growing U.S. Network

This D.C. launch isn’t an isolated move for EVA. It’s part of a broader U.S. network expansion that’s already underway. Dallas (DFW) became a major milestone when EVA Air inaugurated nonstop service from Dallas to Taipei in October 2025, initially with 3 weekly flights that are already scaling up toward daily service.

That Dallas route is flown with the Boeing 787-9 and even features EVA’s new fourth-generation premium economy cabin for its U.S. debut — an enhancement that travelers on both sides of the Pacific appreciate.

Combine that with existing EVA Air service to Chicago (ORD), Houston (IAH), Los Angeles (LAX), New York City (JFK), San Francisco (SFO), Seattle (SEA), and Canadian gateways Toronto (YYZ) and Vancouver (YVR), and you’re looking at a robust presence — one that’s now pushing deeper into East Coast markets with the Washington, D.C., push.

EVA has also strengthened its U.S. connectivity with an interline partnership with Southwest Airlines, giving passengers better domestic reach beyond its own flights.

Final Thoughts

If you’ve been hoping for more nonstop flights between Asia and the U.S. East Coast, EVA Air’s upcoming Washington, D.C., flights are a welcome addition. With stellar service, a modern Dreamliner fleet, and a steadily expanding U.S. footprint, the airline is positioning itself as a serious competitor in transpacific travel. It’s also giving award travelers more chances to connect with style through new redemption options.

Once we know more about flight schedules, we’ll be sure to provide updates.
