Traveling to Japan on a budget is possible, thanks to low-cost airline ZIPAIR.

The Tokyo-based carrier is currently selling round-trip fares from Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO) from $526. That’s, on average, around $300 cheaper than normal! There are also fares available from Houston (IAH) from $667 round-trip.

Here are the details of the fares and how best to book for yourself.

Fare Deal — Details

ZIPAIR’s lowest fares are only available for a short period of time in April and May, which is a beautiful time of year to visit Japan.

As ZIPAIR is a low-cost carrier, you’ll have to pay extra for things like seat selection, checked bags, and in-flight meals. Be sure to factor in these additional costs when considering the deal.

You’ll find the cheapest fares departing from Los Angeles (LAX) in both April and May:

Fares from San Francisco are a little higher and start at $573 round-trip:

ZIPAIR only just launched nonstop flights to Houston this year. With its considerably longer flight time, fares on this route nudge up into the $600s:

Best Ways To Book

Finding these excellent value ZIPAIR fares is made easy by Google Flights‘ nifty “explore” tool.

Once you’ve found the dates that work for you, we suggest booking directly with ZIPAIR, rather than via a third-party website — even if they’re a little cheaper. Booking direct almost always means better customer service should you need to make changes or if anything goes wrong with your journey.

When it comes to paying, we recommend using a travel rewards card that will reward you for doing so.

A great option for frequent travelers is The Platinum Card® from American Express. Paying for flights with this card, such as this deal with ZIPAIR, earns 5x Membership Rewards points per $1 spent (limit of $500,000 per year on flights booked directly with airlines or AmexTravel.com, then 1x thereafter).

Hot Tip:

Another valuable perk of this card is its complementary lounge access via Priority Pass (enrollment required). Enjoying the little luxuries of a lounge is a great way to prepare for a long flight in economy.

Final Thoughts

There’s just $526 standing between you and all the sushi, sashimi, and sake you can handle.

With the dates available just around the corner, we’d recommend jumping on this deal before it’s gone!
