The relationship between Oneworld alliance members Finnair and Qatar Airways is about to get even stronger.
Finnair will be launching 3 new, nonstop services from Nordic capitals to Qatar Airways’ hub airport in Doha (DOH) by the end of 2022.
“We are delighted to expand our collaboration with our Oneworld partner Qatar Airways, offering new connections between Doha and the three Nordic capitals,” says Finnair CEO Topi Manner.
Here’s everything you need to know about this exciting Oneworld news.
New Nonstop Connections From the Nordics to Doha
Starting in November 2022, brand-new, nonstop, Finnair-operated services from Copenhagen (CPH), Helsinki (HEL), and Stockholm (ARN) to Doha (DOH) will take to the skies for the first time, just in time for FIFA World Cup 2022.
The airline is also said to be currently exploring potential additional new Finnair-operate routes from Europe to Doha. As the fourth Nordic capital city, Oslo (OSL) would seem like the most likely city to be next on the list to welcome nonstop service to Doha with Finnair.
As it stands, the inauguration dates of the 3 services are yet to be published, though the airline has confirmed they are scheduled to go ahead before the end of the year 2022.
The new codeshare and 3 additional Finnair-operated routes to Doha will mean improved connectivity between the Nordic countries and the rest of the world thanks to Qatar’s expansive network across Africa, Asia, and Australasia.
“With this codeshare agreement, travellers from the Nordics will continue to have excellent connectivity to Doha with Finnair and onwards with Qatar Airways to attractive leisure and key business destinations across Asia, Africa, Australasia and the Middle East,” said His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, Chief Executive of Qatar Airways.
Finnair’s new flights will complement the regularly-scheduled services already operated by Qatar Airways to each of the 3 Nordic capital cities. Interestingly, the service from Doha to Helsinki is operated by one of Qatar Airways’ narrow-body Airbus A320 jets.
Rather than the airline’s state-of-the-art Airbus A350 aircraft, Finnair will deploy its fleet of 8 older Airbus A330 aircraft on the new routes to Doha.
Hot Tip: Finnair operates services from Chicago (ORD), Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami (MIA), New York (JFK), and Seattle (SEA) to the Nordics and is well worth considering thanks to its new game-changing business class product.
Final Thoughts
Finnish flag carrier Finnair is launching brand-new, nonstop services from 3 Nordic capital cities to Doha, Qatar in the Middle East.
The new services will open up a host of new connection possibilities for passengers in the Nordics and across Qatar Airways’ expansive global route network.
