When Apple’s annual software update goes live today at 1 p.m. ET, it will user in new versions of many of our favorite apps.

Among the apps to showcase new features is Flighty, an app used by many a frequent flyer.

iOS 26 launches today, just in time for Apple’s suite of new iPhones, which will be released this Friday, September 19. Now, Flighty will provide more details, improved accuracy, and other user-friendly offerings.

Shall we take a look?

What Is Flighty?

Flighty is like your personal travel assistant in the palm of your hand.

The app provides a ton of useful information about your flight — much more than what you’ll get from your airline’s app or airport information screens. One of my favorites is the push notification reminder when online check-in opens.

For example, today, I’m flying from Florence, Italy (FLR) to São Paulo, Brazil (GRU) via Zurich (ZRH). Exactly 12 hours before my 7:15 p.m. flight this evening, Flighty was already showing that my flight was tracking on time. It even displayed my departure gate!

You can even follow the flights your plane is taking before it comes to pick you up — a useful feature that can help you know in advance if your flight might be delayed due to the plane being stuck elsewhere.

To access all this extra pre-flight information, you only need to import your flight data. This can be done manually, via email, or automatically by syncing your phone’s calendar or TripIt account.

Flighty offers 4 plans: free, $4.99 per week, $4.99 per month ($59.99 annually), or a lifetime membership after a one-time purchase of $299. As a frequent flyer, I find the most value in the $4.99 monthly option.

Hot Tip:

In addition to Flighty, check out our guide on more must-have apps for frequent flyers.

Flighty’s New Features

After updating the app, the most noticeable change will be the adoption of Apple‘s new Liquid Glass design, making its appearance sleeker than it already was.

Live flight updates will be clearer than before, with more information available from your iPhone’s lock screen.

The intuitive user interface features new toolbars to make navigating the app more streamlined.

Flighty now boasts improved accuracy in providing flight information, thanks to enhancements to flight tracking and a new AI model that learns from airlines and flight itineraries.

And for those who subscribe to Flighty Pro, Live Activities can be displayed when driving — thanks to a new link-up with Apple’s CarPlay.

Final Thoughts

It’s one again the time of year when Apple releases software updates and somehow persuades us to spend another $1,000+ on the latest iPhone. Of all the refreshes and changes that will come into play today, the app I’m most looking forward to updating is Flighty.
