In the latest installment of Frontier Airlines’ “new frontier,” the Denver-based, ultra-low-cost carrier is making flying even cheaper for winter sports enthusiasts by removing checked-bag fees.

Through 11:59 p.m. EST on November 22, 2024, using the code FREESKI will provide free checked bag for all travelers on specific routes to ski resorts.

“Your skis and boards fly free this winter, so grab this deal while it lasts and start planning that winter getaway today,” said Tyri Squyres, president of marketing at Frontier Airlines.

Here are the details of this very limited time off and how to make the most of it yourself.

Skis and Boards Fly Free With Frontier

The offer applies to round-trip Frontier Airlines itineraries to or from select winter sports gateway airports in the West and the Northeast, including Burlington (BTV), Denver (DEN), Salt Lake City (SLC), and Vail-Eagle County (EGE). That’s a total of 70 routes!

The offer is valid only on routes to or from the aforementioned airports during the period from December 3, 2024, to February 26, 2025. However, there are blackout dates: December 21-31, 2024; January 1-7 and 16-20; and February 13-17, 2025

To trigger the free bag, add a checked bag to your booking as usual and complete the various stages of the booking process online at flyfrontier.com or via the Frontier mobile app.

Once you’ve arrived at the payment stage, entering the FREESKI code will remove any checked bag charge that has been applied to eligible flights.

Frontier’s usual 40-pound weight limit applies to the free checked bag. While the offer is marketed as being an offer for the free carriage of ski or snowboard equipment, there’s nothing stopping other passengers from using the FREESKI code for a free checked bag, whether they’re going skiing or not.
