Frontier Airlines has operated its first-ever flight from Phoenix (PHX) to Tampa (TPA).

The Denver-based ultra-low-cost airline’s almost-coast-to-coast service was inaugurated on Thursday, May 11, 2023.

“This new cross-country nonstop only serves to further our commitment to PHX and offer those in the Valley of the Sun convenient and affordable direct service to one of the most popular destinations in the U.S.,” said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president of commercial at Frontier Airlines.

Here are the details of Frontiers newest ultra-low-cost service.

Frontier Now Operates Daily Service Between Phoenix and Tampa

Frontier has kicked off its first ever service between the Phoenix, Arizona, and Tampa, Florida.

The ultra-low-cost airline becomes the second airline to operate nonstop service on the route connecting the 2 cities.

Frontier will operate the service on a daily basis with the following schedule:

  • Depart Phoenix (PHX) 6 a.m. — Arrive Tampa (TPA) 1:14 p.m.
  • Depart Tampa (TPA) 10:21 a.m. — Arrive Phoenix (PHX) 12:08 p.m.

Frontier is celebrating the launch of its new route with one-way fares as low as $59. If you’re a member of Frontier’s Discount Den, then you’ll find even lower fares at $49 one-way.

Passengers opting for these ultra-low fares can only take a personal item onboard with them and are not permitted to take a carry-on bag.

To take even so much as a carry-on bag with you, you can expect to pay upwards of $53!

Hot Tip:

Frontier wants to be your airline of choice this summer. The ultra-low-cost airline has dropped the price of its all-you-can-fly summer pass to just $499. With access to its entire network, it could be worth considering if you’re planning on doing a lot of domestic travel this summer.

If you do need a carry-on bag rather than just a personal item, you might want to consider a flight with American Airlines — the only other airline operating this same route.

This is because American’s lowest fares on the route of $129 include a carry-on bag. That’s only $17 more than Frontier’s equivalent when you combine the cost of the fare and the carry-on bag.

Frontier will operate the route with its all-economy Airbus A320 aircraft in a standard 3-3 configuration.

Final Thoughts

Frontier is bringing its ultra-low-cost fares to those wishing to fly between Phoenix and Tampa. Ultra-low-fares are tempting at the best of times, but it’s always worth comparing what you’d get for your money by flying with other airlines before sealing the deal on that ‘low fare’.
