Update:The offer mentioned below has expired and is no longer available.

Frontier Airlines has released a new opportunity where you can match your elite status from a major airline, hotel, or cruise line loyalty program to an equivalent status in Frontier Miles. In addition, Frontier is allowing co-brand credit cardholders to purchase status outright without flying, allowing you to take advantage of perks immediately without ever having to step on a plane.

Buying Status

If you have the Frontier Airlines World Mastercard®, you can spend $499 to buy the Elite 20k level, which gets you a free carry-on bag, free seat assignments, priority boarding, waived redemption fees, and complimentary stretch seating at check-in. This can be purchased outright with no status elsewhere.

If you purchase Frontier’s GoWild! All-You-Can-Fly passes for $649, you’ll receive Elite 20k status level and the use of the pass through February 29, 2024.

Matching Status

Expiring December 31, 2023, Frontier is allowing you to match your elite status in another airline, hotel, or cruise line’s loyalty program to the equivalent Frontier status level.

In order to do so, you’ll need to pay an application fee:

  • $99 if applying for Elite 20k or Elite 50k
  • $149 if applying for Elite 100k
  • An additional $50 if you’ve received a status match since 2020

While not every airline, hotel, or cruise line is being offered for a match, you’ll find all the major ones (over 45 total), and you likely won’t have trouble matching from there. Here are some examples:

Keep in mind that no matter the program you match from, you will need to have verifiable status with them; Frontier’s partner, StatusMatch, will then confirm the details to initiate the match. So, make sure your status is valid with whatever program you’re using, as the application fee is non-refundable.

Your status will be updated within 3 days of Frontier confirming it, so you should be able to utilize it pretty quickly on upcoming flights, though it’s worth noting that you won’t get any fees refunded on previous reservations you may have booked.

Hot Tip:

Be sure you’re going to actually utilize the status you match to on Frontier before applying. There is a non-refundable application fee, so if you aren’t going to use the status at all, there’s no sense in applying since there’s a cost to do so.

Final Thoughts

While Frontier is a low-cost airline with limited frills, having status when flying can make the experience much better. Frontier’s limited-time status match will allow you to take the status you have with another airline, hotel, or cruise and earn a respective tier with Frontier. If you’re considering this promotion, be sure to do so before the end of the year when the offer ends.
