Frontier Airlines is going big on Puerto Rico, adding a total of 8 nonstop routes across 3 destinations — Aguadilla (BQN), Ponce (PSE), and San Juan (SJU).
Let’s dive into the details!
Frontier To Offer 19 Nonstop Flights to Puerto Rico
The ultra-low-cost carrier is bringing new nonstop flights to Puerto Rico at an attractive price. Starting at $49 one-way, the addition of these routes will not only drive traffic to the U.S. territory but could also provide much-needed competition among airlines serving these routes, with the potential to bring fares to Puerto Rico down across the board.
Frontier will launch 6 new routes from Puerto Rico’s largest airport, Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport (SJU) in San Juan:

Frontier will be the first carrier to offer nonstop service between San Juan and Chicago-Midway, Cleveland, and Cancún, giving travelers in these regions a new Caribbean destination to look forward to.
On May 4, 2023, the carrier will also launch 3x weekly flights between Orlando (MCO) and Ponce (PSE), as well as from Tampa (TPA) to Aguadilla (BQN). Frontier will be the lone carrier to serve the new route from Tampa, while the airline is set to challenge existing service offered by Spirit and JetBlue with the Orlando to Ponce flight.
“Puerto Rico is a hugely popular destination for leisure travelers as well as the large population of Puerto Ricans residing in the U.S. who enjoy returning to the island to visit friends and family,” said Daniel Shurz, commercial senior vice president of Frontier Airlines. “It is a fantastic vacation destination with stunning beaches, historical sites, and the one-of-a-kind El Yunque National Forest. For those with family and friends on the island, we’re offering more options than ever to fly affordably and conveniently between a multitude of major cities and Puerto Rico.”
In total, Frontier Airlines will offer 19 nonstop flights to Puerto Rico. And with today’s news, the carrier claims to “serve more routes to Puerto Rico than any other airline.”
More flights to Puerto Rico is a good thing for travelers who want an easy getaway to one of the most popular Caribbean islands — and you can get there in under 4.5 hours on all of Frontier’s newest routes.
