Homeowner rewards cards keep arriving, and GoodLeap’s newest product takes a different path than the cards before it.

GoodLeap, a technology platform best known for financing solar panels and other home upgrades, is launching the GoodLeap Home Visa Signature® Card. Instead of rewarding your mortgage payment, it rewards the money you spend on home improvements, and it’s backed by a home equity line of credit rather than a traditional credit line.

Here’s how it works.

What the GoodLeap Home Card Offers

The GoodLeap Home card earns 6% cash-back on qualifying home improvement projects started through the GoodLeap Home app. According to the company, that’s the highest rate any major card currently offers on home improvement spending. Everyday purchases earn 1% cash-back, which increases to 3% on eligible spending after you hit $2,000 in a billing cycle (capped at $30,000 in rewards-eligible spending over 12 months).

Rewards are earned as points through the GoodLeap Rewards Program.

The bigger story is what sits behind the card. Rather than a standard credit line, the GoodLeap Home card functions as a HELOC (Home Equity Line of Credit) with up to $150,000 in available credit, based on your home equity and creditworthiness. You can draw on it over time as projects come up, rather than taking out a loan upfront.

This way, you can pay contractors as work progresses and convert balances over $1,000 into fixed installment segments with set payments. GoodLeap says applicants may get funding in as little as 3 days. And because it’s a HELOC, the rates look different from a normal card. The variable purchase APR runs 13.24% to 18.00%, dropping to 12.99% to 17.75% with the 0.25% autopay discount.

Fixed installment segments start at 9.99% APR, or 9.74% with autopay, which is lower than most credit cards. There is no annual fee, and the card works anywhere Visa is accepted. However, a cash-out fee of up to 2.5% applies (and varies by state), and because your home secures the line, missed payments put your home at risk.

The card is issued by Cross River Bank with credit funded by GoodLeap. For now, you can only join a waitlist.

Hot Tip:

Just remember what “backed by a HELOC” means: This is debt secured by your home, not a typical credit card, and the best rewards require running projects through GoodLeap’s app and network.

Who Should Consider the GoodLeap Home Card?

This card fills a different gap than the mortgage-rewards cards homeowners have seen lately.

For example, the Made Essential Visa Signature Preferred Card from fintech Made Card and Fairway Home Mortgage earns 1x points on mortgage payments, plus bonus categories for home and everyday spending. There’s no annual fee, though its points are redeemed for roughly 0.7 to 0.8 cents each, and there are no transfer partners.

The Mesa Homeowners Card took a similar approach, earning points on a linked mortgage and stacking home-focused credits. It built a real following before abruptly shutting down in December 2025, leaving cardholders to cash out their points at just 0.6 cents each. That collapse was a reminder that a generous homeowner card is only as good as the company’s ability to keep accounts open.

There’s also Bilt Rewards, which many people still think of as a rent-rewards program. That’s how it started in 2021, but Bilt has expanded well past rent, and through a partnership with United Wholesale Mortgage, it now lets homeowners earn points on mortgage payments. If you assumed Bilt was not for you because you own rather than rent, it’s worth another look.

The GoodLeap Home card is not chasing your mortgage payment at all. It is built for the homeowner who is actively renovating and would otherwise put a large renovation bill on a credit card at 25% interest or take out a separate home equity loan. If that’s you, 6% cash-back plus a lower HELOC rate is a strong combination.

On the other hand, if you’re simply looking to earn rewards on your existing mortgage payments, this is not that card.

Final Thoughts

GoodLeap is taking a different approach than most homeowner cards by tying rewards to the home improvement spending it already finances. The 6% cash-back rate and sub-13% HELOC rates are attractive for anyone planning real projects.

If renovations are on your horizon, you may want to join the waiting list. Just remember to use credit cards responsibly, especially when not doing so could put your home in jeopardy.
