Have you ever booked a hotel, only to check the price again and notice the price dropped? We’ve all been there.

Now, Google is making it a little less painful to track hotel rates. Google Hotels just added price tracking for individual properties, so you can watch rates — and if they drop, cancel your refundable hotel stay and rebook at the lower price.

Here’s how it works.

A More Targeted Way To Track Hotel Prices

Google Hotels has just rolled out a new feature that lets travelers track prices for a specific hotel — and get alerts when rates change.

Instead of monitoring prices across a broader destination, users can now follow any individual property and watch how its pricing moves over time.

Once you click into a hotel listing, you’ll see the option to track prices directly on the page. Toggle it on, and you’ll get email notifications whenever the rate changes, whether that’s a small dip or a big jump.

The setup is fairly simple: search for a hotel, scroll through the listing, and turn on price tracking. Once enabled, alerts notify you when rates shift, making it easier to decide when to book.

The feature also reduces the need to manually check listings. For travelers booking refundable rates, it opens the door to rebooking if prices drop — potentially locking in a lower cost with minimal effort.

There are some limitations. Google pulls pricing from both hotel sites and third-party platforms, and users can’t currently filter which sources they want to track. That means alerts may reflect price changes from booking channels you don’t plan to use.

Still, if prices start dropping across multiple sources, it can be a strong signal that it’s a good time to book.

Hot Tip:

Google Hotels pulls in prices from multiple booking sites, so you can compare options in 1 place instead of checking each manually.

Final Thoughts

Google Hotels has already been a go-to for comparing hotel prices in a single place, but this update makes it even more useful.

Instead of tracking an entire destination, you can now hone in on 1 (or a few) hotels you actually want and watch how the prices fluctuate. That’s a much better fit for how most people book trips — especially when you already have a specific property in mind.
