Some big news from Hilton today: the chain has announced 3 new hotels in Lisbon’s city center — with the first hotel slated to open next spring.

Here’s what you need to know!

Canopy and Hampton Brands Make Debut in Lisbon

Hilton has announced signings for the Canopy by Hilton Lisbon Praça Sao Paulo, Duo Hotel Lisbon, Curio Collection by Hilton, and Hampton by Hilton Lisbon Baixa.

The hotel scheduled to open soonest, Duo Hotel Lisbon, Curio Collection by Hilton, will open next spring. This hotel will have 75 rooms, an all-day dining restaurant, café, bar, meeting space and a Portuguese bakery.

The 157-room Hilton Lisbon Baixa is scheduled to open in 2025. The hotel will feature an outdoor pool, a fitness center, and open-concept social spaces.

Finally, the Canopy by Hilton Lisbon Praça Sao Paulo will have 84 rooms. Amenities include a fitness center, bar, café, and meeting space. The hotel, Canopy’s first in Portugal, will open in 2026.

Hilton says all 3 hotels will be located in Lisbon’s city center.

Bottom Line:

Hilton says it has “made great strides” to diversify its brand portfolio in Portugal, including inking deals on Hilton Garden Inn, Tapestry Collection by Hilton and Curio Collection properties.

“Lisbon is an incredibly exciting destination, with ample opportunity for development, and our increased presence in the capital is key to our wider Portuguese growth,” said Carlos Miró, managing director, development, Spain & Portugal, Hilton.

Booking Hilton Hotels in Portugal

While these 3 hotels are currently under development, you still have options for booking Hilton properties across Portugal.

Hilton has a modest presence in Portugal, with 10 hotels spanning several brands. These include budget-friendly options such as Hilton Garden Inn Evora (starting at 20,000 points per night) to 5-star resorts like the Conrad Algarve (starting at 78,000 points per night).

Hilton doesn’t use an award chart anymore. The chain has instead adopted variable award pricing, which means award nights can be cheaper (or more expensive) depending on when you travel.

Given the sheer amount of options, earning Hilton Honors points is extremely easy. Hilton has a handful of co-branded credit cards that offer welcome bonuses and some form of elite status. Hilton Honors members can also transfer points from American Express, take a Lyft, or dine with Hilton Honors Dining to earn more points for travel.

Final Thoughts

Hilton has announced a massive expansion in Lisbon, Portugal, with 3 new hotels all scheduled to open this decade. In announcing the news, Hilton seems to offer something for a variety of premium travelers, which will be well-received when the hotels open. While we await these hotels, take a look at Hilton’s other properties across Portugal!
