IHG continues to expand its footprint in Southeast Asia with the opening of 2 new hotels in Phuket, Thailand.
Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Surin Beach and Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Karon Beach will open in 2023.
Here’s what this means for Phuket, Thailand, and IHG.
IHG Hotels & Resorts currently has 33 hotels across 10 brands in Thailand, with an additional 34 to open across the country by 2026.
This rebranding of 2 resorts in Phuket follows a franchise agreement between the hotel giant and Destination Group, a hospitality and restaurant leader in Thailand. Both hotels are conveniently located on or near the beach and within a reasonable drive to Patong, Phuket’s main tourist area.
The 2 recently announced properties would add to 2 other Thailand resort openings from 2022: Holiday Inn Resort Krabi Ai Nang Beach and Holiday Inn Resort Samui Bophut Beach.
Hot Tip: IHG Hotels & Resorts has 18 hotel brands including Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts, Six Senses, Crowne Plaza, and Holiday Inn.
Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Surin Beach, formerly Surin Phuket Beach Resort, will have 256 rooms, including family rooms and suites.
The hotel is conveniently located just 25 minutes from Phuket International Airport (HKT) and 20 minutes from Patong. This hotel will be attractive to families thanks to an arcade room, cinema, and toy store. A swimming pool, fitness center, spa, and kids’ club will also be available at the Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Surin Beach.
Surin Beach is known for its white sand beaches, clear blue waters, and relaxing atmosphere.
Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Karon Beach, formerly Karon Phuket Beach Resort, will have 224 rooms.
The hotel is located 60 minutes from Phuket’s airport, 20 minutes from Patong, and within reasonable proximity to Big Buddha. Family suites, plunge pools, 5 restaurants and bars, and 3 swimming pools are featured at this resort. There’s also a kids’ club, fitness center, and spa.
Karon Beach is a popular area for surfers, nightlife, and a variety of local dining and shopping venues, including the Karon Night Market.
The 2 new Holiday Inn Resorts opening in Phuket will be rebranded from existing hotels in Surin Beach and Karon Beach. Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Surin Beach and Holiday Inn Resort Phuket Karon Beach will join 2 recently opened Holiday Inn Resorts in Krabi and Samui. The 2 new resorts will feature amenities such as a spa, fitness center, pool, and kids’ club, and are located 20 minutes away from the resort town of Patong.
